About the Opportunity

Join a hands-on, 12+ month contract supporting advanced manufacturing and instrumentation at nuclear facilities. You’ll begin with structured training on EDM systems and I&C fundamentals, then deploy to sites where precision, safety, and documentation matter every day.

Training & Travel

  • Training: July 2026 at the Westinghouse Waltz Mill facility in Madison, PA
  • After training: Travel to various nuclear sites to perform assigned work

A Day in the Life

Start by reviewing schematics and your work plan. Calibrate sensors and verify control circuits. Configure and program a ZAP EDM sinker machine for precision manufacturing. Troubleshoot a PLC loop with a digital multimeter and oscilloscope. Log your work, align with engineering and production teams, and wrap with a safety check before tomorrow’s assignment.

What You’ll Do

  • Install, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation, control circuits, PLCs, sensors, and automated process control systems
  • Set up, operate, and program ZAP EDM sinker machines to support precision manufacturing activities
  • Collaborate with engineering and production to ensure compliant, reliable operations
  • Document maintenance and testing activities; maintain accurate equipment logs
  • Perform instrumentation testing using digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and customer/supplier simulators
  • Interpret drawings and execute test procedures
  • Operate a range of electronic and electrical test equipment
  • Read and follow drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering instructions when assembling/testing electronic units, applying core electronic theory
  • Consistently apply applicable quality, health, and safety procedures
  • Perform field cable installation work

What You Bring

  • Preferred: Strong military background in electronics (e.g., Electronics Technician, Avionics Specialist)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort with precision equipment
  • Major plus: Familiarity with ZAP EDM or similar sinker/wire EDM platforms
  • Required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Preferred: 2+ years of similar hands-on experience

If you enjoy tackling complex instrumentation challenges, programming precision EDM equipment, and keeping meticulous records in high-consequence environments, this role will keep you learning and moving.
