TITLE: I.D./O.D. Surface Grinder Operator
The manual surface I.D./O.D. grinder will be responsible to Set-up and operate manual surface I.D./O.D. grind equipment with minimal supervision.
Tasks:
Set up and operate manual surface I.D./OD grind equipment with minimal supervision
Make machine adjustments as required to maintain print specifications
Maintain proper documentation of SPC data and collaborate with management staff and supervisor
Inspect faces and diameters using micrometers, gages and amps
Load and unload machines as per the cycle time noted on the traveler
Determine when wheels need to be replaced.
Assist in determining tooling & fixturing needs
Inspect or measure lay out work, finished workpieces to determine conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as gauges or micrometers.
Observe machine operations to detect any problems, making necessary adjustments to correct problems.
Move machine controls to index workpieces, and to adjust machines for pre-selected operational settings.
Study blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements, and operational sequences. Study blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements, and operational sequences.
Skills/Key Competencies:
Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
Controlling operations of equipment or systems
Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
Grinding faces and diameters holding tolerances of between .0005"-.00005."
Qualifications:
Minimum 2-5 years experience operating machinery
Minimum 2-5 years experience using inspection methods to determine size changes
Understand blueprints & travelers
Quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
