Description
Position Summary
Pacific Tech Communications Inc. (PTC) is seeking a customer-focused and technically skilled I&R / FTTH Technician to support fiber-to-the-home installation and repair services. This role is responsible for installing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining residential and small business fiber optic services while delivering exceptional customer experience.
The ideal candidate combines strong fiber technical skills with professionalism in customer-facing environments.
Key Responsibilities
Install Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) services including internet, voice, and IPTV
Perform fiber drops from terminal to customer premise
Install and configure ONTs, routers, and related CPE equipment
Splice fiber (as required) and terminate connectors
Test fiber using OTDR, power meters, and light source equipment
Troubleshoot service disruptions and perform repairs
Educate customers on equipment use and service features
Maintain accurate job documentation and service records
Ensure compliance with company quality standards and safety protocols
Maintain tools, vehicle, and inventory control
Meet daily productivity and customer satisfaction targets
Required Qualifications
1–3+ years experience in FTTH, broadband, or telecom field installation
Understanding of fiber optic fundamentals and signal flow
Experience with OTDR and fiber testing equipment
Ability to work independently in residential environments
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
Ability to lift 50+ pounds
Preferred Qualifications
Fiber splicing certification or experience
Experience with GPON / XGS-PON networks
Familiarity with Calix, Adtran, Nokia, or similar platforms
