Job Summary

Michigan Ross and Michigan Engineering, both ranked in the top five for undergraduates by U.S. News & World Report, first began offering a dual degree in 2004. The vision for the new Integrated Business and Engineering at Michigan (IBEM) dual-degree program is to create a cohesive experience for students, which will deepen their learning and prepare graduates for leadership roles in various industries in a supportive cohort environment. We are seeking a Student Affairs Program Specialist to manage student life and co-curricular activities for the IBEM student community through all four years of the IBEM program. The position will report to the IBEM Program Officer.

Following several years of planning and pilot programs, the first official cohort of dual-degree undergraduate students from Michigan Engineering and the Ross School of Business will begin in the Fall of 2026. Designed to be completed in four years, the dual degree offers integrated coursework in business and engineering, including action-based learning opportunities and co-curricular activities that enhance the student experience. Students who graduate from the program receive a Bachelor of Business Administration from Ross and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in any of 18 programs of study from Michigan Engineering.

Responsibilities*

• Provide strategic direction and daily oversight of all IBEM extra- and co-curricular programs and events associated with the student experience, with an initial focus on building the program's foundational framework and community.
• Design, launch, and scale new extra- and co-curricular projects, establishing benchmarks to analyze the long-term effectiveness of these ongoing programs. Identify relevant opportunities and coordinate IBEM students' participation in existing Ross and Engineering student life programs.
• Design and manage communications with the IBEM student community through multiple platforms and channels.
• Share budget responsibility for all programming in collaboration with the IBEM Program Officer.
• Contribute to Ross and Engineering student affairs/student life projects, as well as additional committees that enhance the IBEM student experience.

Required Qualifications*

• 2+ years of experience in related student programming positions in a complex organization, with experience in higher education or a similar organization.
• Experience with continuous improvement practices.
• Experience establishing relationships through channels of communication at multiple levels and with diverse groups inside and outside the organization.
• Demonstrated experience setting priorities and managing projects.
• Experience preparing and delivering presentations or communications to audiences such as students, parents, or unit leaders.
• Experience in fiscal management and in preparing and monitoring budgets.
• Proficiency in GSuite, sheets and slides and Microsoft Word, Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets), and PowerPoint plus other database, email and calendar-keeping software and technologies is required.

Additional Information

Additional position requirements:

• The position will maintain work locations at both the Ross School of Business and the College of Engineering, and the incumbent is expected to divide their time between the two locations, as determined by their supervisor, to ensure integration into both team cultures.
• The position is expected to travel to both on-site and off-site locations across campus.
• Present information at events and in meetings.
• May require travel across campus to conduct work and deliver materials.
• May require work during early mornings, nights, and weekends.
• May require domestic travel.

This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the University Staff United (USU), which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
