Contract Rate: $47.06 - $58.82 per hr

Job Description:
Our client, a US-based manufacturing organization, is seeking a senior-level IBM i (AS/400) consultant with strong JD Edwards World experience and a proven ability to support, troubleshoot, and enhance business-critical applications in a complex manufacturing environment. The internal development team is managing an active support ticket backlog and needs dedicated external resources to handle day-to-day application support while the internal team focuses on transformation projects, new development, and enhancements. The environment includes extensive legacy customizations spanning approximately 30 years of code changes, so the right candidate must be comfortable working with limited documentation and complex custom code. Up to three resources may ultimately be engaged, with role mix and scope to be confirmed.

Required Skills:

• Strong RPG programming experience is a primary requirement, including RPGLE, Free-Form RPG, and CL programming
• Deep hands-on experience with JD Edwards World ERP, particularly in customized implementations supporting finance, supply chain, and shop-floor operations
• Experience supporting a manufacturing environment including inventory, purchasing, order management, and related business processes
• Proficiency with IBM i database structures including physical and logical files, display files, and printer files
• Strong understanding of IBM i operations and administration including commands, job management, system utilities, and troubleshooting techniques
• Ability to investigate complex custom code, understand underlying files, databases, business processes, and system integrations
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve application support tickets efficiently with minimal documentation
• Comfortable working independently with limited supervision in a production support environment

Bonus / Soft Skills:

• Experience supporting BPX or similar RPG-based ERP systems
• Familiarity with ServiceNow for incident, request, and change management
• Knowledge and experience with SQL on IBM i
• Experience with Aldon or similar source and change management software
• Ability to bring an external perspective and identify opportunities to improve or better leverage existing ERP functionality
• Secondary capabilities in documentation, knowledge transfer, data analysis, or AI-assisted code review are a plus
• Experience with BPCS ERP software
