IBM Workload Scheduler System Engineer

Job description

Under general supervision, interface with business owners and team management to provide technical support for the IBM Workload Scheduler. Perform maintenance and enhancements of existing software. Work with customers and vendor to research and resolve issues.

Job responsibilities

Perform installation and upgrades to IWS scheduling software.

Develop and maintain utilities to support and customize vendor software.

Partner with schedulers to support and enhance scheduling software along with associated utilities and toolsets.

Prepare a work plan, including estimates, for all assignments and report progress on plan to team management.

Convert business requirements into detailed specifications. Prepare flowcharts, data flows, and other documents as required to illustrate the logical operations involved.

Code and debug batch and interactive programs based on application specifications.

Perform unit, system, integration, and regression testing. Detect syntax or logic errors during program testing. Revise programs as needed to correct errors.

Work with other Technology Departments in a collaborative effort to document or describe program development, logic flows, and integration points.

Perform production support duties as required to keep production software systems operational according to published service level agreements.

Assist in research of production software issues to determine root cause and resolution of the issue.

Maintain knowledge of and adhere to firm standards and procedures.

Required to provide on-call / off hour support on rotating basis.


Technical skills

5+ years of technical support for IBM Workload Scheduler (TWS) and DWC (Dynamic Workload Console) version 9.5.

5+ years of experience with Linux Operating System.

Experience with Windows Operating System.

Experience with scripting language on Linux – Shell, Perl or Python

Experience with DB2 Database.

Experienced in Microsoft Word, Excel and Visio products

Desirable Technical skills

Familiarity with IBM Mainframe systems.

Familiar with mainframe components JCL, MVS (z/OS), TSO.

Familiar with mainframe programming languages REXX, COBOL.

Non- Technical skills
