Job Summary The Manager, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) oversees the daily operations of the Intensive Care Unit, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. This role provides leadership in nursing practice, staff development, operational efficiency, and quality improvement. The Manager collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to promote patient satisfaction, employee engagement, and achievement of organizational goals in quality, safety, and financial performance.

Essential Functions Supervises, coordinates, and evaluates nursing care delivery in the ICU, ensuring compliance with established clinical standards and organizational policies.

Utilizes evidence-based practices and performance improvement methodologies to guide clinical decision-making and enhance patient outcomes.

Engages employees in identifying and implementing risk mitigation and quality improvement opportunities to improve safety and care delivery.

Analyzes data to identify trends, develop actionable plans, and implement improvements to enhance departmental performance and patient satisfaction.

Leads the rollout of tactical action plans, individual goals, and accountability measures to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.

Monitors and evaluates operational and quality performance metrics, implementing performance improvement initiatives to ensure care excellence and efficiency.

Manages daily operations, including resource allocation, staffing, and scheduling, to achieve targeted growth and financial objectives.

Conducts patient case reviews, resolves patient concerns, and ensures the delivery of safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Leadership Responsibilities

Supervision and Staff Management Provides leadership, mentorship and professional development opportunities for departmental staff.

Schedules employees to ensure effective use of resources. Consults with Director on staffing issues.

Conducts performance evaluations, sets goals and provides feedback to staff on their performance and development.

Strategic Planning and Financial Oversight Develops and manages departmental budget ensuring cost effective operations while maintaining high quality service.

Monitors expenditures, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services.

Evaluates and implements new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.

Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures and protocols to optimize quality and overall efficiencies.

Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies. May oversee the accreditation process with relevant agencies ensuring that services meet or exceed industry standards.

Participates in audits, inspections and accreditation processes as applicable.

Follows established quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency and safety.

Collaboration and Communication Works closely with leadership teams to coordinate and improve service delivery.

Stays up-to-date with industry advancements, new technologies, and regulatory changes.

Staff Responsibilities May work in a staff role, when required. Ensures that duties and responsibilities are fulfilled while meeting all competencies established for that job.

Qualifications Bachelors Degree in relevant field required or

Four (4) plus years of direct experience in lieu of a Bachelors degree required

Masters Degree preferred

2-4 years of experience in closely related field with Bachelors degree required

2-4 years of previous leadership experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required

BCLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) required

ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) required INDLEAD

As such, services are offered to the neediest in each community - the un-insured and under-insured, the working poor, those with limited ability to pay, the homeless, and the indigent. Services are provided at discounted (sliding fee scale) rates for those who qualify based on gross annual income and family size.
