What you'll do:

The Ohio Attorney General''s Office is currently seeking an experienced individual for aN Identification Supervisor vacancy in the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) Section, London Ohio office. This position will report to the London location daily. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation, known as BCI, is the state's official crime lab serving the criminal justice community and protecting Ohio families. BCI also provides expert criminal investigative services to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies upon request. With offices throughout the state, BCI stands ready to respond 24/7 to local law enforcement agencies' needs at no cost to the requesting agency.

Staff at BCI work every day to provide the highest level of service. This includes special agents who are on call 24/7 to offer investigative assistance at crime scenes, knowledgeable scientists and forensic specialists using cutting-edge technology to process evidence to bring criminals to justice, and criminal intelligence analysts and identification specialists who help local law enforcement solve cases. Experienced special agents, forensic scientists, and other law enforcement experts'' staff BCI''s three main divisions: 1) Identifications 2) Investigations and 3) Laboratory.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Under supervision of the Director of Identification, supervises the activities of the Clerical Unit;
  • Supervises the processing of all incoming and outgoing mail;
  • Supervises the reception of visitors to BCI;
  • Supervises the management of records used by the various units within the division;
  • Assists Director with development of policy & procedures of unit;
  • Reviews & evaluates employee performance;
  • Recommends leave requests assuring coverage of the unit
  • Interprets & instructs subordinates in the CCH system;
  • Trains subordinates;
  • Gives presentations to the law enforcement community as needed;
  • Serves as liaison between Director & subordinates;
  • Transmits decisions & directives; represents Director of Identification at meetings & conferences;
  • Responds to the needs of the law enforcement community in related complex & confidential matters;
  • Directs the distribution of required supplies to law enforcement agencies.
