Pay: Commensurate with experience

Work Schedule: Typically, Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm ;work is performed on-site and in person.

Export Compliance Requirement: This position requires access to EAR or ITAR controlled technologies. Applicants are required to be eligible for employment under U.S. export control laws and must meet the requirement of being a “U.S. Citizen”.

The Compliance Training Specialist creates engaging, easy‑to‑understand training that makes complex regulations accessible and practical. In this role, you’ll shape the university’s compliance education strategy, manage dynamic training portfolios, keep content current with evolving federal requirements, and collaborate with external partners to deliver high‑quality learning experiences.

Job Summary

Designs, develops, and delivers educational programming and tools to ensure research activities are compliant with local, state, and/or federal laws, rules, and/or regulatory expectations. Serves as the bridge between complex regulatory guidelines and daily research operations in the oversight of training portfolios and in seamless communication with internal and external partners.

Essential Functions

Designs, updates, and maintains engaging training materials including, but not limited to, presentations, eLearning modules, manuals, and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to ensure research activities are compliant with local, state, and/or federal laws, rules, and/or regulatory expectations.
Provides oversight of training portfolios and proactive support in the development and communication of research compliance training programs, policies and procedures; reviews, analyzes, recommends and develops new training programs, policies and procedures.
Coordinates training schedules, tracks employee completion rates, and issues certificates.
Documents, maintains records, and/or provides reports as needed.
Serves as a subject matter expert; Stays updated on evolving guidelines (e.g., human subjects protection, animal welfare, or research security) and updates educational content accordingly.
Serves as the liaison for external compliance training vendors to ensure compliance with federal training expectations.

Job Duties

 

Required Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent

Seven (7) years of experience in research administration, regulatory compliance, or corporate training. Every 30 hours of related coursework may be substituted for one (1) year of experience up to four (4) years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Research compliance regulations and training standards.
Instructional design and adult learning principles.
Creating and delivering training materials.
Clear communication and translation of complex regulations.
Organizing training schedules, tracking completion, and maintaining records.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and training platforms.
Update content based on regulatory changes.
Manage training portfolios and vendor relationships.
Present information effectively to diverse audiences.
Maintain accuracy, detail, and documentation.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to move or traverse across campus, within buildings and offices, and/or across external environments.
Ability to interpret effectively, accurately and impartially, both receptively and expressively.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators.
