The primary role of Special Edu/ IEP Aide is to provide support to students in Baltimore City.<\/span><\/b> This will be a M -F school based fulltime hours schedule for the 26 -27 School Year.<\/span>

- Requires special lifting or handling of physically disabled students for transportation, toileting and/or feeding assistance<\/span>
  <\/span><\/li><\/span>

  - Follow behavior management plan provided<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li><\/span>
    <\/span>
    <\/span><\/div><\/span>
    Assist with classroom management such as organizing instructional and other materials<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li><\/span>
    <\/span>
    <\/span><\/div><\/span>
    Provide assistance with students in a computer laboratory<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li><\/span>
    <\/span>
    <\/span><\/div><\/span>
    Provide instructional services to students under the direct supervision of the teacher<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li><\/span>
    <\/span>
    <\/span><\/div><\/span>
    Requires duties to be performed on school premises, field trip sites, during transportation, or any other off -site activity in which the student participates<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li><\/span>
    <\/span>
    <\/span><\/div><\/span>
    Assignments may include more than one student within a classroom depending on the specific Individual Education Plan (IEP) services for each child<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li><\/span>
    <\/span>
    <\/span><\/div><\/span>
    Responsible for own transportation to the student’s school OR bus company/ student’s home /other pre -negotiated area if accompaniment is required during transportation. Attendance is required whenever the student is present in school.<\/span>

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:<\/span><\/b> <\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/b> <\/span>
    <\/span><\/div><\/span>
    <\/span>
    Minimum high school diploma or GED<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li><\/span>
    Non -therapeutic aides must have completed 20 hrs of training provided by the agency to include: Behavior management strategies, Review of classroom procedures<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li><\/span>
    Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand Standard English and carryout directions and instructions by the student’s teacher and/or principal. Bi -lingual aides may be requested.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li><\/span>
    Must demonstrate emotional and mental maturity as well as display an interest and a sympathetic attitude toward working with children.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li><\/span>
    Must be able to provide satisfactory work references and two satisfactory personal references. A satisfactory job related experience can be substituted for work references.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li><\/span>
    at least one (1) year in the pediatric care setting, school health, general pediatric, home health, community health, public health<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li><\/span>
    Current CPR/First Aid<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li><\/span>
    pre -employment criminal background,<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li><\/span>
    physical exam (within one year),<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/span>
