Job Responsibilities
Instruct all swim lesson participants in the Swim Safe program.
Maintain a high level of safety in his/her own class.
Work hours as scheduled which includes beginning and ending class on time, remaining after class to answer participant or teacher questions and/or to clean up supplies.
Instruct and evaluate students participating in the Swim Safe program.
Submit completed progress reports, skill sheets, and attendance information on time.
Attend mandatory orientation meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
Act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
Present a professional appearance and attitude and maintain a high standard of instruction at all times.
All other duties as assigned and appropriate.
Qualifications
Knowledge of and the ability to demonstrate skills in swim lesson instruction.
Ability to demonstrate skills as required for class content and use teaching aids such as kickboards, diving rings, lifejackets, etc.
Ability to work independently with energy and enthusiasm.
Ability to positively interact with all types of swimmers, including those who may be fearful in the water.
Previous aquatic experience is preferred.
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification is preferred but not required.
