IL Manager Nursing Services

The Medical/Surgical Nurse Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and coordination of the Medical/Surgical nursing department within a Critical Access Hospital (CAH). This position provides clinical, operational, financial, and personnel oversight to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while supporting the hospitals mission, vision, and strategic goals.

The Nurse Manager serves as a visible leader who fosters a culture of accountability, engagement, quality, and service excellence. Working collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, ancillary departments, and executive leadership, this individual ensures regulatory compliance, promotes evidence-based practice, and maintains a positive work environment that supports employee retention and professional growth.

In a Critical Access Hospital setting, the Nurse Manager must demonstrate flexibility and broad clinical expertise, supporting care for a diverse patient population ranging from acute medical and surgical patients to swing bed and observation patients.
