    Respiratory Therapy Supervisor

    Job Overview

    Join our Respiratory Care team as a Respiratory Therapy Supervisor and take the next step in your respiratory therapy career. In this leadership role, you’ll support the daily operations of a 24/7 Respiratory Care department while continuing to use your clinical expertise to provide safe, high-quality patient care.

    The Respiratory Therapy Supervisor works closely with department leadership, physicians, and staff to maintain effective operations, support team development, and ensure excellent patient care. This position also assumes departmental leadership responsibilities in the Director’s absence and performs clinical duties at the appropriate credentialed level.

    What You’ll Do

    • Coordinate staffing and assignments based on departmental workload and patient care needs.
    • Support the unique needs of a 24/7 Respiratory Care department and remain accessible to team members across shifts.
    • Provide clinical leadership, guidance, and support to Respiratory Therapy staff.
    • Perform Respiratory Therapist duties at your credentialed level and participate in on-call responsibilities as required.
    • Lead and participate in departmental, shift, and Respiratory Leadership meetings.
    • Assist with interviewing, onboarding, orientation, performance evaluations, competency assessments, coaching, and employee development.
    • Maintain appropriate employee documentation, including attendance, scheduling, competencies, performance information, and leave requests.
    • Coordinate staff education and ensure appropriate documentation of educational activities.
    • Partner with department leadership in goal setting, operational reviews, budgeting, and expense management.
    • Identify opportunities to improve departmental processes, quality, efficiency, and patient safety.
    • Lead and participate in performance improvement initiatives and hospital or departmental committees.
    • Provide staff with guidance related to problem-solving, decision-making, and workplace concerns.
    • Promote evidence-based clinical practices and the continued development of high-quality Respiratory Care services.
    • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, Standards of Employee Conduct, and patient safety practices.

    Education

    • Associate’s Degree from an accredited Respiratory Care Program

    Preferred

    • Bachelor’s Degree

    Experience

    • Minimum of three years of relevant Respiratory Therapy experience

    Preferred

    • Minimum of one year of supervisory or leadership experience

    Licenses & Certifications

    • Current State of Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner license
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
    • Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
    • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months of hire

    • Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, staff, leadership, patients, and regulatory agencies
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills
    • Computer and systems proficiency, including the ability to enter, retrieve, organize, analyze, and integrate data
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information
    • Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and compassionate care

    Pay range: $33.75 - $50.63
