    Job Summary

    The Immigration Attorney serves as the principal legal resource for employment-based immigration matters across Vandalia Health and its affiliated entities. This position provides legal advice, compliance oversight, and strategic workforce support for physician, advanced practice provider, nursing, research, executive, and professional recruitment initiatives.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage employment-based immigration programs including H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3 and other visa classifications. • Direct physician immigration matters, including J-1 waiver and Conrad 30 processes. • Oversee PERM labor certification and permanent residence sponsorship matters. • Provide legal support to Human Resources, Provider Recruitment, Graduate Medical Education, and Medical Staff Services. • Ensure compliance with USCIS, Department of Labor, Department of State, and Department of Homeland Security requirements. • Lead immigration audits and employment authorization compliance initiatives. • Draft policies, agreements, guidance documents, and educational materials. • Coordinate with outside counsel and manage legal expenditures. • Respond to government inquiries, audits, subpoenas, and investigations affecting immigration matters. 10. Develop strategic recommendations regarding healthcare workforce shortages and recruitment planning.

    Leadership and Strategic Responsibilities Provide executive-level guidance regarding physician recruitment, immigration risk management, workforce planning, retention initiatives, underserved-community staffing strategies, and emerging legal developments affecting healthcare employers.

    The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

    8. Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable.

    9. Perform related duties as assigned.

    Education

    • Doctorate Degree (Required) Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school; active license to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction; demonstrated knowledge of employment-based immigration law. Seven or more years of employment-based immigration experience; healthcare, academic medical center, or physician immigration experience; experience with J-1 waivers, Conrad 30 programs, and PERM labor certifications.
