    About the Role

The Implementation Specialist, Payer Operations owns the day-to-day execution of billing implementations with Color's payer and client partners.

You do not need to arrive as a billing or claims expert. We're looking for someone who is an exceptional operator: someone who can learn complex processes quickly, manage multiple implementations at once, identify and unblock problems, work effectively across teams, and continuously improve how implementations are run.

You will gain fluency in Color's billing model and standard payer implementation process, and collaborate closely with our Revenue Cycle Management, Product, and Engineering teams whenever deeper billing or technical expertise is needed.

This role sits at the intersection of Customer Success, Revenue Cycle Management, Product, Operations, and external payer partners. Success requires strong ownership, structured problem solving, persistence, strong relationship management, and the ability to create workable solutions within real-world operational constraints.

    Responsibilities

    • Own payer billing implementations from initial discovery through system configuration, testing, launch, and stabilization, driving milestones and open issues through coach, gather requirements, answer questions, and coordinate next steps across internal and external stakeholders.

    • Manage a portfolio of concurrent implementations, proactively identifying risks, dependencies, missing information, and stalled work before they affect launch timelines.

    • Investigate implementation and claims issues, gather the information needed to narrow the problem, independently resolve issues within your scope, and effectively engage RCM, Product, or other subject-matter experts when deeper expertise is required.

    • Partner closely with Customer Success, RCM, Product, and Operations to resolve implementation issues, improve handoffs, and ensure internal and external stakeholders stay aligned.

    • Identify recurring implementation problems and design practical process improvements, controls, documentation, tooling, or automation that prevent those problems from recurring.

    • Develop and improve implementation playbooks, trackers, SOPs, and reporting to support a growing portfolio of payer implementations.

    • Learn Color's claims and payer workflows and progressively build the domain expertise needed to independently manage standard payer implementations.

    • Track billing implementation KPIs (% launched on time, implementation TATs)

    • Analyze billing workflows to identify opportunities for improvement, automation and process optimization.

    • Serve as a primary day-to-day partner to payer and client stakeholders, building strong working relationships and creating alignment throughout the implementation lifecycle.

    • Lead payer and client implementation discussions, and clearly communicate Color's standard approach.

    Qualifications

    • 3+ years of experience in implementation, operations, client delivery, program/project management, consulting, healthcare operations, or a similar role.

    • Demonstrated ability to independently drive complex projects with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

    • Strong relationship-management and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with external partners and work effectively across internal teams.

    • Strong problem-solving skills and experience investigating ambiguous operational problems and driving them to resolution.

    • Experience identifying inefficient or unreliable processes and implementing improvements that made them more scalable or effective.

    • Excellent project management and organizational skills, including managing multiple concurrent workstreams and competing deadlines.

    • Comfort leading external meetings, asking detailed questions, working through disagreement or ambiguity, and maintaining productive relationships during difficult implementations.

    • Ability to influence and drive accountability across teams without direct authority.

    • High learning agility and comfort becoming proficient in unfamiliar technical or operational subject areas.

    Nice to haves:

    • Understanding of CPT/HCPCS codes, payer credentialing, and claim lifecycle management.

    • Experience managing implementations with ASOs/TPAs or health plan partnerships

    What We Offer:

    • Competitive salary

    • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits

    • 401k match

    • Monthly phone and wifi stipend for employees, annual ergonomic stipend

    • Generous vacation policy, paid holidays and company-wide recharge days

    • Equal paid parental leave for birthing and non-birthing parents

    • Free cancer screening and prevention resources for employees and their adult dependents

    Base Salary Range: $88,000 - $108,000/year

The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: work experience, market data, skills, geographic location, and business need. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for equity and benefits.
