About the role

This position will be responsible for ensuring all import and export transactions are completed within applicable government rules and regulations, and that product regulatory compliance is adhered to with the governing regulatory agencies. A core focus of this role is administering Wolverine's Temporary Importation Under Bond (TIB) program — managing import and export documentation, tracking TIB entries throughout their lifecycle, coordinating with customs brokers and internal departments, and supporting trade compliance initiatives including tariff analysis, HTS classification, and process improvements.

The role requires a demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and direct work in a safe and efficient manner; flexibility in handling issues as they arise; and the ability to develop effective working relationships with purchasing and production planning personnel.

This position is on-site in Blacksburg, VA.

What you'll do

•      Track all inbound and outbound shipments to ensure 100% allocation of imported material.

•      Establish and continuously improve Trade Compliance processes across the organization.

•      Develop a strategic vision for global trade compliance that strengthens our supply chain over time.

•      Maintain expert knowledge of import/export documentation and classifications (e.g., Temporary Import Bonding, Free Trade Zone, Standard Domestic Consumption).

•      Analyze the financial and operational impact of tariffs and recommend solutions.

•      Coordinate with overseas partners to resolve Customs matters as they arise.

•      Manage foreign-sourced inventory levels to meet Customs requirements while supporting just-in-time logistics.

•      Partner closely with Production Planning to navigate import-related supply constraints.

•      Train and oversee personnel responsible for day-to-day compliance tracking.

The above is intended to describe the general content of, and the requirements for, the performance of this position. It is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of duties, responsibilities, or requirements.

Qualifications

•      Bachelor's degree in finance, Business, or a related field.

•      Solid understanding of import/export compliance requirements and global supply chain concepts.

•      A detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills.

•      Ability to coordinate timely actions across multiple countries and time zones.

•      Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite and ERP systems.

•      A collaborative, safety-first, quality-driven approach to work.
