Description:
CTG is seeking an experienced IMS Database Administrator (IMS DBA) to support and maintain IBM IMS database environments within a large-scale enterprise mainframe infrastructure. This role is responsible for database administration, performance optimization, backup and recovery, troubleshooting, and production support for mission-critical applications running on IBM z/OS.

Hybrid schedule based in the Phoenix, AZ metro area
Duration
6-month contract with option to convert after 6 months
Work Authorization

Core Requirements
- Strong IMS DB and IMS TM administration experience
- IBM z/OS production support experience
- IMS backup, recovery, and database reorganization expertise
- JCL and mainframe utilities experience
- Enterprise production troubleshooting and performance tuning experience
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support IBM IMS DB and IMS TM environments on IBM z/OS
- Monitor IMS database performance, availability, storage utilization, and overall system health
- Perform database tuning, reorganization, backup, recovery, and routine maintenance activities
- Troubleshoot database issues, transaction failures, and performance bottlenecks in production environments
- Support database upgrades, migrations, patching, and system enhancement initiatives
- Develop and maintain operational procedures, standards, and technical documentation
- Collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, systems programmers, and operations teams
- Support disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity initiatives
- Configure database security, access controls, and operational compliance requirements
- Develop automation and operational support scripts using JCL, REXX, SQL, and related tools
- Participate in production support escalation and shared on-call rotation
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of IMS DBA or related mainframe database administration experience
- Strong experience with IBM IMS DB, IMS TM, and IBM z/OS environments
- Expertise in IMS backup/recovery, database reorganization, and performance tuning
- Experience with JCL, REXX, SQL, and mainframe utilities
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale, high-availability environments
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or highly regulated environments preferred
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred
Equivalent combination of education and relevant hands-on experience will also be considered
