Job Summary
We are seeking a highly reliable and professional CNA or experienced Caregiver to provide dedicated, one-on-one support for an older male client (a retired pastor) at his home in Concord, NC. The client is a pleasant gentleman who is cognitively tracking but experiences physical limitations due to diabetes and gout.
This position requires a caregiver with direct, professional competency in using a HOYER LIFT for safe transfers, along with a compassionate heart to help support his daily routines and mental well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Transfers: Safely utilize a Hoyer lift for all transfers between his bed, regular manual wheelchair, and recliner.
Morning Routine (8:00 AM – 11:30 AM): Assist with waking at 8:30 AM, personal hygiene (brushing teeth, washing face, dressing), and preparing a regular diet breakfast with coffee/Glucerna. Encourage him to eat at the table.
Evening Routine (5:00 PM – 8:00 PM): Assist with dinner preparation, evening routines, light tidying, and a safe Hoyer transfer to bed between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
Skin & Positioning Care: Monitor and protect vulnerable areas, specifically managing his comfort by keeping his legs elevated in his recliner and protecting his heels from pressure/bed sores.
Health & Medication Management: Provide consistent medication reminders (including monitoring for his diabetes/gout needs) and ensure he safely attends upcoming doctor appointments.
Companionship & Emotional Support: Provide uplifting conversation, companionship, and encouragement to help combat feelings of isolation or low mood.
Requirements & Qualifications
Technical Skill:Direct, hands-on experience operating a Hoyer lift is strictly required.
Certification: CNA license is highly preferred due to the physical care requirements (transferring a 6'1" gentleman).
Experience: Previous experience managing diabetic care, gout comfort, and skin integrity/pressure sore prevention is a major plus.
Compliance: Must have a Current TB Test, CPR/First Aid certification, and be at least 18 years of age.
Transportation: Valid Driver's License and reliable personal vehicle for commuting to the Concord home and assisting with doctor's appointments.
Personal Traits: Punctual, gentle, encouraging, and patient.
