With more than 30 years of combined experience in the field of optoelectronics our OSI Optoelectronics (OSIO) division is a diversified manufacturer of standard and custom photodiodes and optical sensors for used in aerospace, defense, commercial and medical applications.

We are one of the largest global manufacturers of optoelectronic devices, delivering engineering design support and manufacturing capabilities that include products for use in the defense, aerospace, medical, and industrial markets, among others. We utilize our world-class manufacturing facilities in the U.S., India and Malaysia to continue to put forth excellent engineering solutions aligned with efficient manufacturing to meet high-volume production requirements.

OSI Optoelectronics is seeking an In-Process Inspector. This individual will perform inspections, check testing and sampling procedures for product manufacturing processes. They will also carry out packaging line, manufacturing inspections and sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials to ensure that company standards are met. Monitors critical equipment and instrumentation. They may draft procedures and assist with validating or troubleshooting testing methods, including assays. They will also apply approval or rejection labels to bulk raw materials once analytical data is evaluated.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs routine checks, tests, gauging, and instrument inspections of materials, goods in process, and finished goods. Primarily performs sedentary bench inspection work: selects parts from the production line or WIP locations, returns to a designated inspection workstation, and completes visual and/or dimensional verification using calibrated equipment.
  • Performs assigned routine tests on materials, goods in process, or finished goods where results are compared with company quality standards. Reports results and helps supervisor/production engineers take necessary action.
  • Conducts visual inspections under appropriate magnification and lighting (e.g., microscopes, loupes, ring lights) to verify workmanship and cosmetic requirements such as solder quality, epoxy fillets, bond wire placement, connector/ferrule condition, contamination/particles, scratches, chips, plating condition, labeling, and overall assembly integrity. Identifies, documents, and removes nonconforming material from the line/WIP; clearly labels and moves discrepant product to designated hold areas to prevent unintended use. Places conforming product back into the appropriate flow.
  • Notifies the Supervisor/Production Lead and Quality representatives when inspection data exceeds acceptable limits, when repeat defects are observed, or when major incidents of poor quality, damage, contamination, or suspected mix-ups occur.
  • Maintains accurate inspection records, including defect counts and trends, using inspection forms, charts, logs, or electronic systems; ensures data integrity and traceability by lot/serial number where required.
  • Maintains conforming product reports, quality records, and controlled documents for the facility as assigned; may act as a Quality department clerk to file, index, and retrieve records per retention requirements.
  • Uphold the company’s core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork.
  • Demonstrate behavior consistent with the company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.
