Inclusion Support Counselor - Summer Program

Camp Fire North Shore

Overview
Camp Fire North Shore is seeking compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic Inclusion Support Counselors to support campers with social-emotional, behavioral, and inclusion needs within our Summer Camp programs.

This role is designed to bridge the gap between Camp Counselors and Behavioral Technicians by providing direct support to campers who may require additional behavioral, emotional, or individualized support throughout the camp day.

Working under the guidance of Behavioral Technicians and Camp Leadership, Inclusion Support Counselors help implement behavior support strategies, promote inclusion, and ensure all campers can successfully participate in the camp experience.

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Part-Time | 25-30 Hours Per Week Monday through Friday

TypicalSummerCampShifts:

  • 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
  • 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM

Schedules may vary slightly depending on site and program needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the safety, well-being, and inclusion of all campers, with a focus on those needing additional behavioral or social-emotional support
  • Assist specific campers (1:1 or small group) in participating in daily camp activities
  • Help campers follow routines, transitions, and group expectations
  • Provide prompting, redirection, encouragement, and positive reinforcement to support engagement and success
  • Follow behavior support strategies developed by Behavioral Technicians or Camp Leadership
  • Support campers in using self-regulation and calming strategies
  • Assist in de-escalating behaviors using trained support strategies
  • Communicateconcerns,behavioralpatterns,andobservationstoBehavioralTechniciansand leadership
  • Work closely with Camp Counselors to ensure all campers are included in activities
  • Collaborate with Behavioral Technicians for support, guidance, and modeling
  • Assist with toileting, hygiene, or daily living support as needed
  • Actively participate in camp activities including games, swim, field trips, and group programming
  • Help lead or support activities as needed
  • Ensure campers remain supervised, engaged, and safe at all times
  • Assist with simple behavior or participation tracking when directed
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and positive teamwork

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age. Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience working with children required
  • Experience supporting children with behavioral, social-emotional, or developmental needs preferred
  • Interest in psychology, education, counseling, social work, ABA, or related fields preferred
  • Strongcommunicationandteamworkskills
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and flexible in fast-paced environments

Additional Requirements

  • CORI, SORI, fingerprinting, and background checks required
  • Completion of onboarding and compliance requirements prior to start
  • Must attend all required Camp Fire trainings and orientation
  • Must comply with all Camp Fire North Shore and DPH safety policies and procedures
  • Willingness to learn and implement behavior support strategies under guidance from leadership
