Income Tax Specialist

Job Responsibilities

• FEDERAL AND STATE INCOME TAX COMPLIANCE
• Prepare federal income tax returns.
• Prepare state and local income/franchise tax returns, extensions, and estimated tax calculations.
• Manage apportionment computations, state modifications, and NOLs.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with varying filing requirements and deadlines. AUDIT SUPPORT
• Respond to tax audit inquiries, notices, and information requests. RESEARCH AND PLANNING
• Conduct research on complex tax issues, including nexus, apportionment, legislative updates, and emerging tax risks.

Required Skills / Knowledge

• TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Strong understanding of income/franchise tax concepts (nexus, apportionment, unitary rules, etc.).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and common tax compliance systems. Corptax experience is a plus.
• Ability to research and interpret complex tax statutes and regulations. SOFT SKILLS
• Strong analytical thinking and problem solving abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Collaborative mindset with readiness to interact across the organization.

Experience

• Income Tax Specialist: 4-8 years of income/franchise tax experience in public accounting or a corporate tax department.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA, or MST preferred (but not required depending on level).
