About the Role:
We are seeking to hire a public purpose/municipal credit analyst to work closely with a new investment team focused on the municipal, public purpose, and corporate credit markets. This role requires experience in modeling and analyzing a combination of municipal obligors, project finance transactions, and corporate credits. Ideally, the candidate will have experience with both public and private issuers. Ideal experience level is 6-10 years in public finance banking or public purpose/project finance credit research at a sell-side dealer or asset management firm. The job will be 4 days per week in the office in either Charlotte, NC, or Greenwich, CT.
Responsibilities:
- Assess creditworthiness of existing or prospective public purpose investments (both municipal as well as corporate credits) in either the public or private sectors
- Create and maintain financial models to capture key metrics, trends, cash flows, and projections
- Maintain databases of multiple credits within specific sectors
- Communicate potential key dates for "headline" news, such as mergers and acquisitions or other catalytic events
- Deliver a multidimensional perspective on the investment outlook across multiple credit sectors in an accessible and informative manner
- Carefully analyze data and produce objective reports for the investment team
- Interact with both buy-side and sell-side credit analysts as a key source of information to supplement independent research
- Utilize AI and technology resources to optimize the credit diligence process
- Cultivate relationships with developers, investment bankers, and financial advisors to help us source opportunities
Requirements:
- Proven working experience as a credit analyst
- Proficiency with Excel and building models
- Ability to analyze cash flows, leverage, and sources of collateral
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities
Compensation:
With respect to NY, CA, and IL based applicants, the starting base pay range for this role is between USD 175,000 and USD 200,000 annually. The actual base pay is dependent upon several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience, business needs, and market demands. This role may also be eligible for bonus compensation and employee benefits.
