Job Description

ABOUT JFCSFor 85 years, Jewish Family & Children's Services of Southern Arizona (JFCS) has strengthened the well-being of children, adults, families, and older adults throughout greater Tucson. We are a nonprofit, nonsectarian behavioral health and social services agency serving people of all backgrounds. Our clinicians work within a collaborative team committed to compassionate, culturally responsive, trauma-informed care.POSITION SUMMARYJFCS is seeking an independently licensed therapist to provide outpatient psychotherapy to a diverse client population. We are especially interested in clinicians who enjoy working with children, adolescents, couples, and families-or who are interested in expanding their skills with these populations through consultation, training, and professional development. The clinician provides assessment, diagnosis, individualized treatment planning, psychotherapy, risk assessment, care coordination, and discharge planning. Caseloads are developed based on client needs, program needs, and the clinician's experience, interests, and areas of competence. Services are provided in person and through telehealth when clinically appropriate and permitted by payer requirements.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESProvide evidence-based, culturally responsive, trauma-informed psychotherapy to an assigned caseload that may include children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.Conduct comprehensive behavioral health assessments, establish diagnoses within the clinician's scope of competence, and develop individualized, measurable treatment plans.Use developmentally appropriate interventions and engage parents, caregivers, partners, or other significant supports when clinically appropriate and consistent with confidentiality requirements.Assess and respond to clinical risk, including suicidal ideation, self-harm, abuse, neglect, domestic violence, substance use, and other safety concerns; develop safety or crisis plans and coordinate higher levels of care when indicated.Complete required clinical documentation accurately and within established timeframes, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, risk documentation, care coordination notes, and discharge summaries.Monitor progress, review treatment goals with clients, and modify interventions or referrals based on outcomes and changing needs.Coordinate care with schools, medical providers, child welfare agencies, courts, case managers, and community partners when appropriate and authorized.Meet agency, payer, ethical, documentation, caseload, and productivity requirements while maintaining high-quality clinical care.Participate in clinical consultation, case review, team meetings, training, professional development, and quality-improvement activities.Maintain professional boundaries and follow agency policies, applicable laws, contractual requirements, and licensing-board ethical standards.CLINICAL AND PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIESStrong therapeutic engagement, clinical judgment, diagnostic reasoning, risk assessment, treatment planning, and case-conceptualization skills.Ability to work effectively with clients representing diverse identities, cultures, family structures, and lived experiences.Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, documentation, and care-coordination skills.Ability to work independently, seek consultation when clinically indicated, and contribute effectively to an interdisciplinary team.Openness to feedback, consultation, ongoing learning, and professional growth.Proficiency with electronic health records, telehealth platforms, and other technology used to deliver and document services.WORK HOURS, SCHEDULE, AND FLEXIBILITYWork schedules are developed based on client and program needs. Because children, working caregivers, couples, and families may need appointments outside traditional business hours, candidates should be available for some evening and/or occasional Saturday appointments. Specific scheduling expectations will be discussed during the interview process.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMaster's degree in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or another related behavioral health field from an accredited institution.Current, unrestricted independent behavioral health license in Arizona, such as LCSW, LPC, or LMFT.Demonstrated experience providing behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, psychotherapy, and clinical risk management.Willingness to serve a varied client population.
