The Indiana Infrastructure Development Lead is a senior civil engineer responsible for growing Hanson's footprint across Indiana's transportation and municipal sectors. This position blends business development with hands-on technical support and project leadership.
You will leverage your industry network, technical expertise, and client-facing skills to identify opportunities, win new work, and support the delivery of high-quality engineering services. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who enjoys developing client relationships, building strategic partnerships, and guiding multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Market Growth
Lead business development strategy for Indiana's transportation and municipal markets.
Expand Hanson's client base byidentifyingnewpublic-sectorand municipal opportunities across the state.
Develop andmaintainstrong relationships with INDOT, municipalities, counties, MPOs, utilities, and other key partners.
Serve as the face of Hanson at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
Lead pursuit strategies, proposal development, interviews, and go/no-godecisions.
Monitor market trends, funding programs, and regulatory changes to inform strategic positioning.
Client Relationship Management
Act as a trusted advisor to existing and prospective clients.
Ensure ongoing client satisfaction and help grow repeat andlong-termengagements.
Coordinate cross-disciplinaryneeds toidentifyopportunities for Hanson's service expansion.
Technical & Project Leadership
Lead and manage the planning, design, and delivery of transportation and municipal projects, including roadway, stormwater, utility, and site improvement projects.
Provide senior-level oversight or input on transportation and municipal infrastructure designs.
Support project managers in delivering roadway, stormwater, utility, and site improvement projects.
Apply solid civil engineering judgment to resolve complex technical challenges.
Guideprojectstrategies, quality reviews, and risk management efforts.
Mentorearly-careerstaff and help develop internal talent.
Business & Financial Management
Support project financial planning, including revenue forecasting and workload planning.
Provide input on staffing needs, teaming strategies, and operational improvements.
Help oversee proposal budgets and project pricing strategies.
Qualifications
Education & Licensure
Bachelor's degree in civil engineeringora relatedfieldrequired.
Professional Engineer (PE) licenserequired; Indiana PE strongly preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Experience
Minimum 15 yearsof experience in transportation or municipal engineering.
Demonstratedtrack recordof successful business development or client relationship growth.
Experience working with INDOT, Indiana municipalities, or publicsector clientspreferred.
Skills
Solid understanding of civil engineering principles related to transportation,roadway, utilities, and municipal infrastructure.
Experience managing or reviewing design plans, specifications, and construction documents.
Familiarity with Civil 3D, MicroStation, or related design software.
Exceptional communication, networking, and presentation abilities.
Provenrelationship-buildingcapabilities at all organizational levels.
Entrepreneurial mindset and strategic thinking.
Ability to work collaboratively while alsooperatingindependently.
Salary Range: $170,000 - $200,000, based on experience.
