Terminal Manager – Transloading Operations


Location: Indianapolis, IN Terminal
Starting Salary: $60,000 annually, negotiable based on experience

Road & Rail Services is hiring a hands-on Terminal Manager to lead daily transloading operations at our Indianapolis, Indiana terminal.

This is not strictly a desk-based management position. You will work directly with your team while overseeing the safe and efficient transfer of commodities between railcars, trucks, and specialized equipment. The right candidate will understand industrial or intermodal logistics, lead by example, and remain actively involved in day-to-day terminal operations.

About the Indianapolis Terminal

Our Indianapolis terminal supports the movement of ethanol, plastic pellets, food-grade products, and other commodities. As Terminal Manager, you will oversee the people, equipment, safety, and performance required to keep these operations running effectively.

You should be comfortable making operational decisions, supervising employees, working outdoors, climbing railcars, moving around heavy equipment, and responding to challenges in real time.

What You'll Do

Manage daily operations at the Indianapolis terminal

Oversee the safe loading and unloading of railcars and trucks

Work alongside employees when operational support is needed

Lead, train, schedule, and develop terminal employees

Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork

Monitor productivity, service quality, and operating performance

Manage site expenses and support P&L objectives

Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, FRA, DOT, customer, and company requirements

Identify operational concerns and implement practical improvements

Maintain effective communication with customers and company leadership

Help ensure equipment, work areas, and documentation meet operational standards

What We're Looking For

At least two years of management experience with P&L responsibility

Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Experience in logistics, transportation, manufacturing, warehousing, or industrial operations

Transloading, rail, terminal, or intermodal experience is preferred

Hazmat handling experience is a plus

Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions

Ability to climb railcars and perform physical operational tasks when needed

Availability to work weekends or holidays when required by customer or terminal needs
