    Position Summary

    The Industrial Arts & Work-Based Learning (WBL) GRIP Teacher delivers comprehensive Career and Technical Education (CTE) programming aligned to Wyoming CTE standards. This position provides instruction in industrial arts/trades coursework while coordinating and supervising structured work-based learning experiences including internships, apprenticeships, job shadowing, and cooperative education placements.

    The position ensures students develop technical competencies, employability skills, workplace safety knowledge, and career readiness in alignment with state standards, Perkins V indicators, and district graduation requirements.

    The position will support GRIP across all of Sweetwater County School District #2 with a majority of time serving high school students at both Green River High School and Expedition Academy, some time supporting Lincoln Middle School students and providing a little time for our elementary students during career day type events.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    I. Industrial Arts / CTE Instruction

    Curriculum & Instruction

    • Develop and implement standards-aligned curriculum consistent with Wyoming CTE benchmarks in Industrial Arts, Manufacturing, Construction, Engineering, or related pathway areas.

    • Deliver hands-on instruction in areas such as:

    • Woodworking and construction trades

    • Drafting and design

    • Manufacturing processes

    • Power and hand tool operation

    • Applied engineering principles

    • Integrate academic cross-curricular standards (math, science, literacy) into technical instruction

    • Incorporate project-based and competency-based learning models.

    • Utilizing YouScience Software at LMS, EAHS, and GRHS

    Safety & Compliance

    • Provide direct instruction in OSHA-aligned workplace safety practices.
    • Enforce strict laboratory safety protocols and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Conduct routine equipment inspections and maintain safe lab conditions.
    • Maintain safety documentation consistent with district and state guidelines.

    Assessment

    • Assess student competency using performance-based assessments, industry standards, and portfolio development.
    • Support students in earning industry-recognized credentials where applicable.
    • Maintain accurate grading and progress records aligned to district policy.

    II. Work-Based Learning Instructor Position

    Program Development

    • Establish and maintain partnerships with local employers, trade organizations, and community agencies.
    • Develop structured training agreements that define student responsibilities, employer expectations, and learning objectives.
    • Ensure WBL experiences align with student Individual Career & Academic Plans (ICAPs) and pathway goals.

    Compliance & Legal Oversight

    • Ensure all placements comply with:

    • Wyoming child labor laws

    • Federal labor regulations

    • District risk management policies

    • Perkins V documentation requirements

    • Maintain training plans, liability documentation, evaluation records, and hours verification.

    Student Preparation & Support

    • Teach employability skills including:

    • Workplace communication

    • Professionalism and ethics

    • Resume development

    • Interview preparation

    • Conduct regular site visits and employer check-ins.

    • Evaluate student performance in collaboration with worksite supervisors.

    • Provide coaching and intervention when workplace concerns arise.

    Data & Accountability

    • Track and report required CTE performance indicators including:
    • Credential attainment
    • Work-based learning participation
    • Postsecondary readiness
    • Graduation alignment
    • Maintain documentation required for Perkins funding and state reporting.

    III. Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities

    • Serve as liaison between students, families, employers, counselors, and administration.
    • Participate in district CTE advisory committees.
    • Engage in professional development related to CTE, industry standards, and workforce trends.
    • Support CTE student organizations (e.g., SkillsUSA or similar, if applicable).
    • Attend required staff meetings, IEP/504 meetings, and district events.

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid Wyoming teaching license with appropriate CTE/Industrial Arts endorsement.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of industrial trades and workplace safety standards.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and partnership-building skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Prior industry experience in construction, manufacturing, engineering, or related fields.
    • OSHA certification or industry-recognized credential.
    • Experience coordinating internships or supervising student work placements.
    • Knowledge of Perkins V accountability and CTE reporting requirements.

    Physical & Scheduling Requirements

    • Ability to stand for extended periods and demonstrate tool operation.
    • Ability to lift materials up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to travel locally for employer site visits.
    • Flexibility for extended contract days or occasional after-hours employer meetings.
