Kable Workforce Solutions is partnering with our client to add an experienced Industrial Automation Maintenance Specialist to keep automated process equipment running at peak performance.
A day in this role
Start by reviewing overnight performance, machine status, and maintenance logs with production and the automation team.
Execute changeovers to move from one part or job to the next with minimal downtime.
Walk the line: clear jams, fine-tune bowl feeders, tracks, fixtures, and tooling, and verify robot positions and jog functions.
Jump into diagnostics when issues arise across mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
Identify and correct faults tied to sensors, relays, servo systems, motor controls, PLCs, and VFD-driven equipment.
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, clean machines, and make precise adjustments.
Document every change to machines, fixtures, and tooling; update equipment history and manage spare parts.
Close your shift by communicating status, open issues, and performance insights to production personnel and fellow automation team members.
Core responsibilities
Perform machine changeovers from part-to-part and job-to-job.
Clear machine jams and troubleshoot product issues involving metal and plastic components.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic machine issues.
Diagnose electrical problems involving sensors, relays, servo systems, motor controls, and PLCs.
Adjust and troubleshoot bowl feeding systems, tracks, fixtures, and tooling.
Adjust robot positions, coordinate types, and jog functions; resolve robot errors.
Execute scheduled preventative maintenance on systems and subsystems.
Clean machines and complete necessary equipment adjustments.
Document modifications; maintain spare parts inventory; record equipment history.
Communicate machine status, issues, and performance with production and the automation team.
What you bring
Strong knowledge of 120VAC and 24VDC control circuits and 3-phase 480V industrial power.
Knowledge of PLCs and VFD-controlled machinery.
Proficiency across mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical diagrams, and complex automated system drawings.
Comfort using power tools, measuring equipment, and maintaining required hand and test tools for automated equipment.
Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Windows-based systems.
Willingness to work overtime, including short notice and weekends when needed.
Team-oriented communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Color acuity to distinguish between colors and varying shades.
Industrial paint experience is a plus.
Knowledge of ABB/SEW and Mitsubishi drive technology is a plus.
Work environment and physical demands
Follow all PPE and safety procedures, especially around electrical hazards, pinch points, burners, paints, solvents, and natural gas.
Stand for prolonged periods; utilize strong hand/eye coordination.
Lift and move up to 50 lbs, with the ability to handle 50+ lbs as required.
