Industrial Automation & PLC Controls Technician
Location: Shawnee, OK

Pay: DOE (Based on Experience) $25–$35/hr
Schedule: Must be available for overtime, emergency call-outs, and alternating weekends
A Day in the Life
You arrive on the floor, open the maintenance dashboard, and scan the overnight alerts. A conveyor motor tripped a drive; a packaging PLC needs a logic tweak; production wants to push a new throughput target. You gear up, follow LOTO to isolate power, trace the issue in the electrical schematic, and bring the line back up safely. After stabilizing the drive, you document the corrective action, then move to a planned PM—checking panel terminations, cleaning VFD filters, and updating spare parts counts. Mid-morning, you collaborate with engineering to refine a control panel layout for a new workstation. After lunch, you jump into Studio 5000 to diagnose an intermittent fault, update the PLC routine, and verify the interlocks. By end of shift, you’ve reduced downtime, improved reliability, and left clear notes for the next call-out—just in case.
What You’ll Own
- Keep industrial electrical equipment and machinery running through expert troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance
- Program, diagnose, and repair PLC platforms and Allen‑Bradley 500/5000 drive systems
- Install, wire, and fabricate electrical control panels, controllers, and related assemblies
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance to cut unplanned downtime
- Diagnose and repair electrical motors, AC/DC drives, relays, and control circuits
- Read and apply electrical schematics, blueprints, and engineering drawings
- Lead root-cause analysis and implement durable corrective actions
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and all electrical safety procedures without exception
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and manage spare parts inventory
- Partner with production, engineering, and maintenance to elevate reliability and efficiency
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on industrial electrical maintenance experience
- PLC programming and troubleshooting capability
- Background with Allen‑Bradley PLCs and drive systems
- Fluency in reading/interpreting electrical schematics and drawings
- Proven skill troubleshooting motors, controls, relays, and drives
- Strong command of industrial electrical safety practices
- Self-directed; able to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Controller fabrication and panel wiring experience
- Familiarity with voltage converters and relay logic
- Manufacturing/industrial production environment experience
- Background in root cause analysis and continuous improvement
Physical Requirements
- Comfort working in an industrial manufacturing setting
- Ability to climb ladders and work from scissor and boom lifts
- Capability to stand, walk, bend, and perform hands-on maintenance throughout the shift
- Readiness to respond to emergency equipment failures and work extended hours when needed
