    Job Description

    Your Mission

    Own the last step before parts reach our customers: ensure every powder-coated surface is correct, cured, protected, and documented.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Verify each job against the traveler and customer specifications (color, finish, coverage).
    • Confirm proper cure prior to handling or packing.
    • Visually inspect for: runs, sags, orange peel, pinholes, fisheyes, thin coverage, poor adhesion, bare spots, color mismatch, gloss variation, and contamination.
    • Segregate, label, and report nonconforming parts for rework or scrap; escalate recurring issues to supervision.
    • Handle and stage finished parts to avoid scratches, dents, or coating damage.
    • Pack to specification using approved materials (foam, paper, dividers, wraps).
    • Accurately label boxes, racks, and pallets per job traveler or shipping paperwork.
    • Complete inspection logs and production records with precision.
    • Keep inspection/packing zones clean and organized to 5S standards.
    • Follow safety, quality, and powder coat handling procedures; assist with other finishing/packing tasks to maintain flow.

    Qualifications

    • Proven ability to recognize coating quality issues visually
    • Read/interpret job travelers, work instructions, and packing requirements
    • Basic math for counts and paperwork reconciliation
    • Detail orientation and strong quality focus
    • Reliable attendance
    • Experience in powder coating inspection, finishing, or manufacturing
    • Knowledge of powder coat defects and handling best practices
    • Experience with racks, conveyors, or batch coating operations

    Physical Requirements

    • Stand for extended periods
    • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs (with or without assistance)
    • Perform repetitive hand/arm motions
    • Bend, reach, and handle parts of varied sizes
    • Maintain visual acuity for detailed surface inspection

    Work Environment & PPE

    • Powder coating/finishing operations within a manufacturing environment
    • Exposure to noise, moving equipment, and coated metal parts
    • Required PPE: gloves, safety glasses, protective wear
    • Temperature fluctuations influenced by ovens and shop conditions
