Job Summary

Join our team in Burgettstown, PA, a vibrant community known for its rich history and close-knit atmosphere. Located just a short drive from Pittsburgh, Burgettstown offers a perfect blend of small-town charm and access to urban amenities. Our manufacturing plant in this dynamic location is seeking skilled professionals to join our team. This is an hourly position in a unionized setting, and applicants must be willing to work rotating shifts and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair, replace, install, wire, adjust, and maintain all electrical equipment in the plant.
  • Perform mechanical repairs to cranes and other equipment related to electrical service.
  • Receive instructions, wiring diagrams, and specifications for scheduled and emergency repairs, installations, and inspections.
  • Inspect all electrical equipment, checking for issues such as motor bearings, lubrication, commutation, excessive vibration, and signs of wear.
  • Diagnose electrical issues using testing equipment or general knowledge of electrical principles.
  • Determine the best repair methods to minimize production interruptions.
  • Advise on immediate equipment shutdowns or continued operation based on potential damage.
  • Interpret and analyze drawings and wiring diagrams to locate and trace electrical circuits.
  • Dismantle, clean, repair, replace, install, maintain, assemble, and lubricate electrical equipment while taking safety precautions.
  • Adjust equipment to achieve proper operating characteristics.
  • Make temporary or permanent repairs to equipment such as main motor drives, generators, control panels, relays, interlocking control systems, electronic devices, and circuit breakers.
  • Erect scaffolds and perform simple rigging as required.
  • Operate small machine tools, such as drill presses and power saws.
  • Check air compressors for proper operation and may start, stop, or adjust compressors.
  • Occasionally operate cranes to charge ingots in furnaces and make miscellaneous lifts.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly working area.
  • Make emergency, minor mechanical repairs in the absence of other maintenance personnel.
  • Install, splice, or replace sections of wire for repair or temporary installation.
  • Install conduit, fittings, switches, controls, fixtures, and connect and adjust electrical equipment for new installations or replacements as required.

Qualifications

Applicants must successfully complete a maintenance skills examination provided by Ramsey or a similar provider. A minimum of three years of professional repair and troubleshooting experience or a similar combination of education and experience is required.

Tools and Equipment

  • Drill press, power saw, chain fall, burning equipment, portable drill and grinder, safety devices, miscellaneous electrical testing equipment and hand tools, pipe benders, soldering equipment, etc.

Materials

  • AC and DC equipment, such as electric furnaces, cranes, manipulators, motors, generators, controls, switches, circuit breakers, transformers, control panels, lighting circuits, wire, tape, insulation, repair parts, control circuits, conduit, fittings, etc.
