Industrial Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Shape the backbone of production at Techo-Bloc

Location: Rock Island, IL
Compensation: $32.47–$43.91 per hour (DOE) + $2/hr shift premium from 4pm on
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 11:00am–10:00pm (with a planned transition to a night shift)

Step onto our Rock Island floor at 11:00am and you’ll dive straight into the heartbeat of our operation. You’ll scan the preventative maintenance plan, jog a line to verify a repair, and head to a conveyor where a bearing swap can’t wait. By mid-afternoon, you’re reading a wiring diagram to trace an intermittent fault across I/O, contactors, and a VFD. As the shift premium kicks in, you might weld a cracked bracket in position, align a new motor with a laser-straight belt path, and validate signals on 480VAC and 24VDC with your multimeter and megger. You’ll finish by documenting PMs and leaving your area spotless—ready for what’s next.

What you’ll take on

• Diagnose, repair, and replace drive components: motors, gearboxes, chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and screws.
• Service hydraulic systems—cylinders, valves, solenoids, and pumps—and fabricate/replace hydraulic hoses as needed.
• Execute advanced welding and fabrication in multiple positions and joints; perform quality structural repairs and custom builds.
• Operate core shop tools: band saws, torches, drill presses, grinders, and more.
• Install and align new equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues via schematics and testing with multimeters/meggers; size components and cabling for new systems.
• Read wiring diagrams to trace circuits, including I/O, overloads (OLs), contactors, relays, and brake resistors.
• Configure and troubleshoot VFDs (SEW, Siemens, Lenze, Allen-Bradley) and related controls.
• Work confidently with interference fits and bearing heaters.
• Start/jog equipment to verify repairs; test malfunctioning machinery, identify parts, and complete corrective actions.
• Safely repair, install, and dismantle machinery—at heights and with mobile equipment (cranes, forklifts, scissor lifts).
• Own preventative maintenance and keep a clean, safe, and organized workspace.

What you bring

• 2+ years in electro-mechanics, industrial maintenance, or related field.
• Skilled with power tools and precision equipment; comfortable with lathes and/or milling machines.
• Hands-on experience with bearing heaters, interference fits, and removing gearboxes or seized bearings/shafts.
• Proficiency in stick and MIG welding; able to fabricate and perform structural repairs.
• Strong electrical aptitude; read/interpret schematics and diagrams.
• Experience with 480VAC, 120VAC, 24VDC, and 4–20mA instrumentation.
• Use of multimeters, meggers, ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.
• Maintain, install, and troubleshoot VFDs, programmable sensors, SCADA, HMI, and PLCs.
• Collaborative, team-first mindset.
• Electrical certificates or equivalent experience preferred.
