Industrial Energy Isolation Survey Engineer

Step into a role where every plant visit improves safety. As an Industrial Energy Isolation Survey Engineer, you will travel frequently to manufacturing facilities to document machines, map every energy source, and produce precise lockout/tagout (LOTO) road‑maps aligned to OSHA 1910.147. This position reports through Steptron, a division of Rockford Systems LLC, with a home base in Clinton, MI. Remote work locations are welcome.

A Day in the Life

• Arrive on-site and meet with customer EHS and maintenance to align on scope and safety expectations.
• Walk down machines and production lines, capturing photos and technical details for each asset.
• Identify and validate all isolation points—electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, thermal, and others.
• Translate findings into machine-specific LOTO road‑maps and documentation using our creation tools.
• Confirm the feasibility and accuracy of proposed isolation methods before implementation.
• Collaborate with client teams and internal colleagues to ensure procedures are practical and compliant.
• Implement LOTO road‑maps and tags on-site, verifying clarity, accuracy, and usability.
• Close out the visit with safety, accuracy, and efficiency top of mind.

What You’ll Tackle

• Conduct detailed equipment and energy-source surveys across diverse industrial environments.
• Develop clear, machine-specific documentation aligned to OSHA 1910.147 and client requirements.
• Capture visual documentation and enter technical details into LOTO tools to build definitive procedures.
• Verify and implement energy isolation methods and tagging at customer facilities.

What You Bring

• Deep understanding of industrial machinery and energy sources.
• Background in safety auditing, risk assessments, or EHS compliance.
• Familiarity with OSHA lockout/tagout standards (1910.147) or similar frameworks.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
• Strong documentation skills—turning technical findings into usable procedures.
• Comfort in industrial settings and willingness to travel to client sites as needed.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a strong safety mindset.
• Clear, professional communication and customer-facing skills.
• Strong interest in travel.
