Industrial Engineer

Job Description

The Industrial Engineer will play a pivotal role in maximizing manufacturing throughput, optimizing machine utilization, and enhancing production scheduling and capacity planning in our aerospace manufacturing operations. This position involves ownership of capacity models, labor standards, scheduling analysis, bottleneck reduction, and operational performance metrics. The role requires close collaboration with manufacturing, planning, engineering, and operations teams. The ideal candidate will have experience in aerospace manufacturing environments, with a strong understanding of high-mix, low-volume CNC machining operations, production scheduling, ERP/MRP systems, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze manufacturing processes and workflows to improve efficiency, throughput, and cost performance.
  • Develop labor standards using time studies and manufacturing analysis.
  • Create and maintain capacity planning models.
  • Optimize machine utilization across CNC machining operations.
  • Own production schedules and support scheduling optimization initiatives.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement recovery strategies.
  • Improve setup times, queue times, and material flow throughout the facility.
  • Lead continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Develop operational metrics, dashboards, databases, and reporting tools.
  • Support headcount planning and resource forecasting.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems to support production execution.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, planning, quality, and engineering teams to improve operational performance.
  • Support implementation of automated scheduling methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 and aerospace manufacturing requirements.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor"s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting CNC machining operations.
  • Strong production scheduling and capacity planning experience.
  • Proficient in performing throughput, bottleneck, and workflow analysis.
  • Experience utilizing ERP/MRP systems.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong manufacturing process improvement experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Industrial engineering, time studies, plant layout, capacity planning - throughput optimization.
  • Factory simulation, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement.
  • Labor standards, bottleneck analysis, operations excellence.
  • High mix low volume manufacturing.
  • Production scheduling - Epicor ERP.
  • Experience in design layout, tooling, SolidWorks, CATIA, CATIA design.

Work Environment

Work in a premier manufacturer of precision components, assemblies, and systems supporting aerospace, defense, space, and industrial customers. The company specializes in precision machining, fabrication, welding, and complex assembly operations within an AS9100-certified manufacturing environment. The facility is fast-paced with a high-mix/low-volume CNC machining environment. The role involves significant interaction with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Planning, and Leadership. It combines office, shop floor, and production scheduling responsibilities. This highly collaborative role requires frequent communication with cross-functional teams and regular shop floor presence to validate schedules, identify bottlenecks, and drive improvements.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
