Paket relies on a resilient, safety-first Industrial Facilities Maintenance Mechanic to protect uptime and reduce risk across buildings, utilities, and production support systems. In this facilities-centered role, you report to the Maintenance Supervisor and operate as the go-to resource for inspections, repairs, and continuous improvement.

Your core responsibilities

  • Inspect and repair: Assess buildings and structures, pinpoint system issues, and resolve them or coordinate approved vendor support.
  • Electrical basics: Replace and repair fixtures, wall switches, outlets, bulbs and tubes, ballasts, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, and cords using the correct tools.
  • Plumbing fundamentals: Fix leaks in drains and faucets; clear clogged drains and toilets.
  • Light building trades: Prep surfaces; paint, stain, and varnish; hang doors; install locks and handles; perform minor carpentry and masonry.
  • Utilities and safety systems: Operate the low-pressure boiler; check and maintain air compressors and vacuum pumps; perform fire compression system churn tests.
  • Reliability focus: Service facilities equipment routinely to prevent failures and avoid costly downtime to production.
  • Tank farm stewardship: Help maintain and enhance Paket’s tank farm.
  • Training and culture: Instruct employees on safe operation of new or newly acquired equipment; model uncompromising safety practices.
  • Records and inventory: Log all maintenance work; manage parts and materials (including metals stock and miscellaneous production-machine parts).
  • Partnership: Communicate equipment status, faults, and facilities best practices to management.
  • Broad trade coverage: Electrical, plumbing, steam fitting, carpentry, electrical distribution, compressed air systems, HVAC, boiler, fabrication, grounds maintenance, communications, welding, and equipment installation.
  • Shop operations: Use saws, drill presses, and varied hand and power tools; maintain tools in safe, clean working order.
  • Availability: Respond to off-hours calls and support emergency work when needed.

Your toolkit and knowledge

  • Fluency with trade tools, materials, and methods across facilities disciplines (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, painting, welding, locksmithing, mechanics).
  • Strong safety awareness and technical understanding within specialty areas.
  • Proper storage practices for equipment, materials, and supplies; excellent documentation habits.
  • Commitment to all Federal, State, and local building codes and regulations, including the Illinois Fire Code.

  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Independently manage workload, uphold schedules, and maintain accurate routine records.
