Position Summary

The Industrial Hygienist Technician Jr./Sr. supports industrial hygiene activities in an environmental restoration setting. Depending on the selected level, this position works under direct or general supervision to help ensure that monitoring, controls, and processes used to reduce and control chemical, biological, and physical hazards comply with approved procedures, policies, contractual and operational requirements, safety guidelines, DOE Orders, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

The Junior level is an entry-level role that participates in an Industrial Hygiene Technician training and qualification program and performs limited assignments. The Senior level performs assigned industrial hygiene functions of general, routine, or moderately complex scope and supports Industrial Hygiene Technician Leads, supervision, and management. Neither level normally directs work activities or exercises discretionary decision-making authority.

Responsibilities

• Provide assigned technical, administrative, and functional support to management and the Industrial Hygiene team.
• Perform assigned tasks in accordance with detailed instructions, established policies, approved procedures, contractual and operational requirements, DOE Orders, safety guidelines, and applicable regulations.
• Assist Senior Industrial Hygiene Technicians, Industrial Hygiene Technician Leads, supervision, and management with monitoring and controls for chemical, biological, and physical hazards.
• Participate in monitoring company health standards in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and assist with evaluating, interpreting, and maintaining compliance with current requirements.
• Analyze industrial hygiene data within the assigned scope and compare readings with predetermined limits.
• Ensure required controls are implemented to mitigate identified hazards.
• Provide industrial hygiene, environmental, and hazardous material support to others as assigned.
• Assist with basic, complex, or difficult industrial hygiene analyses, as appropriate to the assigned level, using applicable methodologies, laboratory equipment, and instruments.
• Perform routine calculations using established guidelines and formulas.
• Maintain data in applicable data capture systems and generate reports, charts, and spreadsheets as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of and perform work safely in accordance with approved safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Actively participate in Safety Work Groups and perform other job-related duties as assigned.
