Hunton Trane a division of the Hunton Group in Houston, TX, is seeking to hire an Industrial I&E Engineer. This role will be responsible for identifying and understanding the controls components required in processing heating and cooling applications.

The Industrial I&E Engineer will be responsible for developing comprehensive technical solutions for the control systems on process cooling designs at industrial facilities. The selected individual will be part of the Hunton Trane Industrial engineering team working with engineers from other disciplines as the controls and instrumentation subject matter expert that ensures all controls engineering is properly coordinated with other project disciplines.

This role will also provide required technical oversight and management for the implementation of control and instrumentation for each project. This will require working closely with project management, drafting, programming, and field engineering to facilitate smooth installations for the customer.

Responsibilities:

• Controls Automation: Development and maintenance of overall control strategies, narratives, and functional specifications. • Project Controls Engineering: Development of sequence of operations, points, list, cause and effect alarm setpoints, network topography, equipment selection, integration, coordination, and other project required controls engineering. • Control Panel Design & Wiring Diagram Reviews: Participate in control panel design and wiring diagram reviews, and integration of field instruments and motor control equipment. • Programming and Testing: Assist in programming, PLCHMI configuration testing, and troubleshooting platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, etc. • Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT): Develop and assist in execution of FAT and SAT, document results, and punch lists. • Commissioning and Startup Activities: Assist with commissioning, startup activities, loop checks, and control system validation. • Instrumentation Selection and Documentation: Assist with instrumentation selection, documentation of field instruments, pressure, temperature, flow level analyzers, control valves, etc. • Instrumentation Maintenance: Assist with instrument datasheets, IO lists, loop diagrams, and instrument index maintenance. • Troubleshooting and Technical Support: Provide troubleshooting and technical support for instrumentation and control-related issues in the field. • Electrical Support: Electrical design and coordination for low-voltage systems related to automation, power distribution to panels, MCC, VFD, interfaces, grounding, bonding, etc. • Review of Electrical Drawings: Review electrical drawings, one-lines wiring diagrams, termination drawings, and coordinate with electrical designers and contractors on controls wiring. • Documentation and Standards: Maintain accurate documentation, P&IDs, markup packages, cause and effect alarm setpoints, IO lists, network architecture, and configuration backups. • Management of Change (MOC) and Engineering Document Control: Follow MOC and engineering document control procedures. • Collaboration and Project Support: Coordinate with other engineering trades to ensure proper infrastructure, utilities, network considerations, clearances, and other items are provided for the controls system to function as needed and that all necessary project requirements are met. • Work with Drafting Teams, Programmers, and Control Sub-Suppliers: Ensure all controls of engineering and documentation are correct and meets project requirements. • Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, and Contractors: Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and contractors for installation and startup readiness. • Support Procurement Activities: Support procurement activities, technical bid evaluations, vendor submittal reviews, and material requisitions. • Provide Clear Status Updates: Provide clear status updates, action tracking, and technical communication to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

• BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience. • Minimum 5 years of construction or engineering-related work experience. • A strong process controls background. • Experience with industrial controls engineering and documentation on complex industrial and mission-critical projects. • Mastery of process flow fundamentals, including rotating equipment and hydronic system design. • Working knowledge of industrial control systems concepts, PLC, HMISCADA, control loops, P&IDs. • Experience with maintaining ISA and other industrial control standards. • Familiarity with instrumentation fundamentals, 4-20 mA, HART, Modbus, networking, discrete signals, basic calibration concepts. • Ability to read and interpret electrical and instrumentation drawings, P&IDs, loop sheets, wiring diagrams. • Background supporting commissioning process for complex projects. • Strong troubleshooting mindset and willingness to support field startup activities. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, comfort learning CMMS, document control tools. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Must be able to multi-task, work well with others, and have a positive attitude.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working with hydronic controls for process cooling and refrigeration. • Experience working with modular plant construction.
