    Job Description

    Industrial Machinery Maintenance Specialist

    Your day at a glance

You start your shift by scanning the maintenance system, reviewing open tickets, and planning your route across the shop. First up: a CNC with a geometry drift—you run a Renishaw probing routine, confirm with a ballbar test, and follow with laser alignment to bring it back into spec. Next, you level and align an older hob (think Fellows, Liebherr, Pfauter) headed for a rebuild. By midday, you’re elbows-deep in a control cabinet, tracing a fault through PLC ladder logic and updating the electrical schematic as you go. The afternoon wraps with a quick HVAC check, a weld-and-fabricate guard repair (MIG/TIG), and a final pass through your CMMS logs to record all work.

    What you’ll do

    • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues across a wide variety of machine tools and facility systems.
    • Install, level, and align equipment; perform ballbar testing and laser alignment to validate performance.
    • Service and repair electrical/electronic systems on machines and plant equipment, including utilities and HVAC.
    • Execute preventive maintenance on machinery and building systems; log activities in the maintenance system.
    • Disassemble, repair, align, and reassemble mechanical components; complete hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical rebuilds.
    • Perform CNC upgrades and troubleshooting on controls such as Fanuc, Mazak (Mazatrol), Siemens, Okuma OSP, and Haas (Heidenhain experience is a plus).
    • Work confidently with Renishaw probing and ballbar systems to assess machine performance.
    • Create, read, and update technical drawings, hydraulic/pneumatic/electrical schematics, PLC documentation, and mechanical drawings.
    • Rig, install, and align equipment safely and efficiently.
    • Coordinate with internal teams and outside vendors to source parts and expedite repairs.
    • Cut, weld, fabricate, and machine parts and guarding (MIG/TIG).
    • Troubleshoot hydraulic systems using hydraulic schematics; apply shop math and industrial formulas to diagnostics and repair.
    • Maintain clean, safe work areas and contribute to 6S initiatives.
    • Participate in cross-discipline training and help train new employees; support team-based work environments.
    • Follow all safety procedures and perform other duties as assigned.

    What you bring

    • Proven skill diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems on CNC and conventional equipment.
    • Hands-on ability to repair, install, and maintain a broad range of machinery and facility systems.
    • Experience with older shapers and hobs (Fellows, Liebherr, Pfauter).
    • Strong knowledge of CNC controls: Fanuc, Mazak (Mazatrol), Siemens, Okuma OSP, Haas; Heidenhain a plus.
    • Proficiency with Renishaw probing and ballbar systems.
    • Experience with HVAC, plant equipment, utilities, and facility infrastructure.
    • Ability to read and produce hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and PLC ladder logic schematics as well as mechanical drawings.
    • Capability to complete mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic rebuilds.
    • Rigging, installation, and precision alignment expertise.
    • Welding and fabrication skills (MIG/TIG); ability to cut, weld, fabricate, and machine parts.
    • Comfort with precision measuring instruments and strong command of shop math and industrial formulas.

    Physical and operational requirements

    • Comfortable working at heights; able to stand or walk for extended periods.
    • Ability to lift, move, and manipulate up to 35 lbs.
    • Must meet equipment operation requirements, including the ability to meet PIE requirements to operate equipment.
    • Electrician License preferred or willingness/ability to obtain.
