Job Title: Maintenance Manager
Job Summary
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance operations within a manufacturing and distribution environment. This role ensures production equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, material handling equipment, and facility infrastructure operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. The Maintenance Manager drives preventive maintenance strategies, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures the facility remains compliant with safety and operational standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Hire, train, and develop maintenance technicians and support staff.
Schedule and supervise daily maintenance activities across production and distribution areas.
Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and development.
Address employee relations matters, including corrective action and terminations, in alignment with organizational policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee maintenance of production lines, packaging equipment, conveyors, forklifts, and facility systems.
Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems affecting production or distribution operations.
Implement and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime.
Coordinate repairs and maintenance activities to reduce disruption to manufacturing schedules and shipping operations.
Inspect and maintain facility infrastructure including electrical distribution, plumbing, HVAC, structural components, and safety systems.
Develop maintenance procedures, work instructions, and scheduling systems to improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
Track maintenance metrics, downtime trends, and repair costs to support continuous improvement efforts.
Assist in preparing departmental budgets and forecasting maintenance and capital improvement expenses.
Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations, environmental standards, and operational policies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
Strong knowledge of industrial maintenance practices and manufacturing equipment.
Demonstrated experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems in an industrial environment.
Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues in a fast-paced facility.
Experience implementing preventive maintenance and equipment reliability programs.
Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
Proven leadership and team management abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems (CMMS preferred).
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification, trade training, or electrical/mechanical coursework preferred.
Minimum of seven years of maintenance experience in manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environments.
Prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk production floors and warehouse areas to inspect equipment and oversee repairs.
Ability to perform hands-on repair work when needed.
Ability to sit for extended periods while using a computer.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
