Description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining injection and blow molding machines, auxiliary equipment, automation systems, molds, and facility equipment to support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations. This role is essential to reducing equipment downtime, supporting production objectives, and maintaining the overall performance of equipment in a fast-paced plastics manufacturing environment.

 

Job Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on injection and blow molding machines and related production equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, identify root causes, and complete repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Accurately complete work orders, maintenance logs, and related documentation.

Electrical & Mechanical Troubleshooting

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, motors, drives, and electrical control systems.
  • Repair or replace motors, valves, pumps, bearings, belts, hoses, and other machine components.
  • Calibrate machine controls and instrumentation as required.
    Injection & Blow Molding Equipment Support

Maintain and repair:

  • Injection molding machines
  • Blow molding machines
  • Robotic automation systems
  • Material handling equipment
  • Resin dryers and hoppers
  • Chillers and cooling systems
  • Air compressors
  • Conveyors
  • Hot runner controllers
  • Temperature control units
  • Vacuum loaders
  • Assist with machine startups, shutdowns, changeovers, and new equipment
  • installations.
  • Facility Maintenance

Perform maintenance on facility systems including:

  • Electrical distribution systems
  • Water and cooling systems
  • Assist with facility improvement projects and installation of new equipment.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training, and audits.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, maintenance procedures, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical certification, trade school education, or an associate degree in Industrial
  • Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
    Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
  • Experience maintaining and repairing industrial machinery and automated equipment.
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance programs.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in plastics injection and blow molding manufacturing.
  • Experience working with robotic automation systems.
  • PLC programming experience.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Forklift, aerial lift, and crane rigging experience.

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work around operating machinery, elevated temperatures, noise, and other
  • manufacturing conditions.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on-call as needed.
