Shape the night. Support the line. Keep production moving.

Nearly a century after a small Rhode Island tire shop opened its doors, Teknor Apex has grown into a global custom compounder with nine U.S. sites and operations in Belgium, Singapore, Germany, and China. Still privately held and guided by the Fain family, we build long-term relationships with employees and customers alike—because, as Jon Fain says, “Manufacturing is a team sport and we work together to achieve our goals.”

A night in this role

Clock in for four, 10-hour shifts from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM—no weekend requirements. You’ll step onto a clean, organized floor, review work orders in the CMMS, and map out priorities. One hour you’re diagnosing a drive issue on an extruder. The next, you’re sizing conduit for a new motor install to National Electric Code standards. Before shift end, you’ll complete PMs, document results, and set up the next tech for success.

What you’ll take on

  • Install, service, and repair a wide range of mechanical and electrical production equipment; mentor entry-level teammates and operate with minimal supervision.
  • Follow safety procedures without compromise and promote a safe work environment.
  • Use electrical test instruments to evaluate circuits and equipment performance.
  • Size and install conduit, wiring, breakers, fuses, starters, motors, and related components per the National Electric Code.
  • Troubleshoot AC/DC motors and motor drives to root cause.
  • Understand PLC operation; interpret ladder logic and assist in troubleshooting controls.
  • Execute preventive maintenance and record all work in the CMMS accurately.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, manuals, and technical bulletins.
  • Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and JLG equipment safely.
  • Plan and organize your own workload, meet timelines, and maintain excellent housekeeping.
  • Be ready for occasional short-notice overtime when production demands it.
  • Occasionally operate a company vehicle/truck; a valid driver’s license is required.
  • Handle other related tasks as needed to keep the plant running smoothly.

Schedule

(4) 10-hour shifts, 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM. No weekend requirements.

What helps you succeed

  • Associate’s degree in Mechatronics or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of relevant maintenance experience or an equivalent mix of education and hands-on training.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Clear, professional communication—able to talk, listen, and speak effectively with others.
  • Strong electrical background highly preferred.

Rewards and benefits

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision with extremely low deductibles.
  • Low-cost insurance plan—80% paid by the company.
  • Wellness program with substantial premium discounts.
  • Up to 7% employer contribution to 401(k).
  • Paid Vacation and Paid Holidays.
  • Sign on Bonus.
  • Pay increases throughout your first year plus annual merit increases.
  • Quarterly Perfect Attendance Incentives.
  • Employee Recognition Program—earn points to redeem for a wide range of great products.
