The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and improving manufacturing equipment and facility systems to support safe and efficient production operations. This role requires expertise in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fabrication, and building maintenance systems, with a strong focus on preventative maintenance and equipment reliability. Experience with plastic sheet extrusion equipment is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on extrusion equipment and related machinery.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems.
Install, service, maintain, and rebuild pumps, including fluid, vacuum, and hydraulic pumps.
Install, repair, and maintain gearboxes, bearings, sprockets, gears, and other power transmission equipment.
Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on granulators and tow motors.
Assist with equipment upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Electrical & Controls
Assemble, install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, motors, pumps, and electronic components.
Work with 110V, 240V, and 480V electrical systems, including single-phase and three-phase power.
Troubleshoot basic PLC-controlled equipment and associated electrical systems.
Ensure all repairs and installations comply with safety standards and company procedures.
Fabrication & Tool Room Operations
Fabricate equipment, replacement parts, and functional machine components.
Operate oxy-acetylene cutting equipment, Arc welders, and MIG welding systems.
Maintain tool room organization and manage parts inventory.
Utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and tape measures.
Facility & Building Maintenance
Perform building maintenance tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, and general facility repairs.
Maintain plant infrastructure and ensure operational readiness of facility systems.
Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize downtime and production interruptions.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of wiring systems, motors, pumps, and industrial electrical systems.
Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, machinery maintenance, plumbing, and carpentry.
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, measurements, and maintenance documentation.
Experience using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
Ability to fabricate metal parts and equipment components.
Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
Physical Requirements
Regularly stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, crawl, and use hands for handling tools and equipment.
Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Occasionally lift and move more than 150 pounds with assistance.
Ability to work around moving machinery, industrial equipment, and chemicals while following required safety precautions.
Must possess close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Capable of moderate physical exertion in a manufacturing environment.
