Job Summary:
This role focuses on operational excellence, applying lean manufacturing principles, and driving continuous improvement within high precision, mission critical manufacturing environments.
The ideal candidate brings a strong engineering foundation, hands on manufacturing experience, and the ability to collaborate across operations, quality, supply chain, and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive operational excellence through the design, analysis, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
- Analyze current manufacturing workflows to identify inefficiencies, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
- Develop and implement lean manufacturing practices, including: 6S, Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work
- Design and improve process flow, plant layouts, and material movement to maximize throughput and minimize bottlenecks.
- Conduct time studies, line balancing, and capacity analysis to support production planning and execution.
- Support assembly, integration, and test (AIT) and production workflows for complex optical and photonic hardware.
- Participate in Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs), qualification testing, anomaly resolution, and root cause analysis.
- Collaborate closely with operations, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure manufacturing readiness.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, process flows, and standard work.
- Utilize data analytics and KPIs to monitor performance and drive data based decision making.
- Ensure compliance with quality, reliability, and mission assurance standards for national security and space programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor"s degree in Industrial Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, or hybrid ME/QE roles
- Aerospace, defense, or other regulated manufacturing experience
- Demonstrated ability to apply process optimization, yield improvement, and quality control methodologies in precision manufacturing environments.
- Hands on experience supporting production, AIT, and complex hardware manufacturing.
- Knowledge of optical fabrication, alignment, metrology, or cleanroom manufacturing processes.
- Ability to improve production processes, tooling, resource utilization, and material flow to meet cost, schedule, and quality goals.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- U.S. Citizenship required due to the nature of the work
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting NASA, DoD, Space Force, Intelligence Community, or national laboratory programs.
- Familiarity with spaceflight hardware, radiation tolerant systems, or classified manufacturing environments.
- Experience working within ISO, AS9100, or similar aerospace quality standards.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience in high precision or low rate, high complexity manufacturing environments.
