Industrial Manufacturing Instructor (Part-Time)
Highland Community College is accepting applications for a Part-Time Industrial Manufacturing Instructor. This position provides high-quality, student-centered instruction in one or more of the following areas: Drafting, Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD), and/or CNC Machining.
The instructor supports the College’s mission by delivering relevant, hands-on instruction aligned with current industry standards, preparing students for employment in advanced manufacturing fields, and contributing to a collaborative, career-focused learning environment. Highland Community College’s manufacturing programs emphasize competencies that meet evolving workforce demands across machining, design, and production technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver effective classroom, lab, and/or hands-on instruction in assigned manufacturing courses.
- Develop and implement course materials that align with industry standards and workforce expectations.
- Facilitate student learning through demonstrations, applied projects, and competency-based instruction.
- Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records related to attendance, grades, and student progress.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Stay current with advancements in manufacturing technologies and instructional best practices.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support program and departmental goals.
- Perform additional instructional or college-related duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
Education and Experience
- Associate degree in a related field and relevant industry work experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Teaching or training experience in an educational or workforce setting is beneficial.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of industrial manufacturing practices, including drafting, CAD, and/or CNC machining.
- Ability to deliver hands-on, applied instruction aligned with industry expectations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to student success and workforce preparation.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
- Comfort using instructional technology and learning management systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform instructional duties in classroom and laboratory environments.
- May involve standing for extended periods and light lifting consistent with lab or shop instruction.
- Potential exposure to manufacturing equipment and materials, with appropriate safety protocols in place.
Salary Range: $603 - $697 per contact hour
