Williams International has an exciting opportunity for an Industrial & Manufacturing Operations Engineer at our facility located at 3450 Sam Williams Dr., Ogden, UT 84401. The successful candidate will apply industrial and manufacturing engineering principles to optimize, coordinate, and oversee high-precision aerospace machining and production processes for gas turbine engine components. The position serves as a primary technical and analytical liaison between engineering, quality, and manufacturing operations. The role is responsible for process optimization, cycle-time analysis, quality management system compliance, workflow coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives across CNC lathe, grinding, Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), and automated manufacturing operations. The engineer analyzes production data, supports manufacturing efficiency initiatives, develops operational improvements, and coordinates technical training to maximize equipment utilization, reduce operational inefficiencies, and ensure compliance with aerospace manufacturing standards.
This position is 100% onsite; no remote or hybrid option is available at this time.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Coordinate with design engineering, quality, and manufacturing management teams to evaluate, develop, and implement improvements to turbine engine component fabrication processes, machining methods, tooling utilization, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with computerized manufacturing and quality systems, including On-line Quality Reporting (OQR), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Factory Data Collection (FDC) software platforms.
- Develop, implement, maintain, and verify statistical process controls, Six Sigma methodologies, continuous improvement initiatives, and material/component serialization traceability systems to ensure compliance with aerospace quality and manufacturing standards.
- Analyze, document, and investigate systemic manufacturing and equipment issues causing production delays, downtime, scrap, or quality deviations, and apply engineering and statistical methodologies to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Verify that manufacturing personnel operate within established production standards and correctly utilize planning instructions, engineering specifications, precision gauges, and measurement equipment.
- Coordinate with production supervisors, team leaders, and manufacturing specialists to organize production workflows, establish operational priorities, and assign manufacturing activities to maximize equipment utilization and production efficiency.
- Oversee production support and material handling workflows to minimize tooling shortages, reduce material bottlenecks, improve process flow, and prevent machine downtime within aerospace manufacturing operations.
- Develop and conduct technical training programs for CNC machining personnel regarding manufacturing procedures, blueprint interpretation, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), engineering specifications, precision measurement systems, and quality compliance requirements.
- Provide engineering support and troubleshooting for complex machining operations, tooling configurations, robotic integration systems, and CNC machining program modifications, including evaluation of G-code and M-code programming adjustments.
- Enforce compliance with workplace safety procedures, hazard-control requirements, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards, and 6S manufacturing organization practices throughout aerospace production operations.
- Coordinate and oversee vacuum impregnation and hydrostatic pressure testing processes for aerospace castings to verify structural integrity, leak resistance, and compliance with aerospace engineering specifications.
- Monitor and verify controlled heat-treatment processes for aerospace components to ensure compliance with metallurgical specifications, required material properties, and aerospace engineering standards.
- Conduct technical training and operational support relating to automated robotic systems integrated with CNC machining equipment to improve production efficiency, reduce downtime, and maintain high-precision aerospace manufacturing standards.
M-F 40 hrs./wk. 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
U.S. or Foreign bachelor's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (U.S. or foreign) or a related engineering field.
Two (2) years of experience in aerospace or turbine engine CNC manufacturing engineering, including experience with precision machining operations, manufacturing process optimization, quality systems, and CNC production environments.
