Industrial Mechanical Assembler (Heavy Assembler II & III)

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour, depending on experience

Shift Availability

1st Shift

  • Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM

  • Must be available to work Saturdays as needed

2nd Shift

  • Monday through Thursday, 1:30pm - 12am

  • Must be available to work Fridays as needed


Job Summary

 

The Assembler III performs repetitive bench-type assembly operations to mass produce various radiator cores. This position works under general supervision, receiving specific work assignments and resolving most production issues with limited supervisory assistance.

The Assembler III reviews production schedules, work orders, and core blueprints to ensure assemblies meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and routed production times. This role is responsible for the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and tools associated with core assembly and brazing processes. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and quality.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Production & Assembly

  • Review written and verbal job orders to determine material requirements and production priorities.

  • Select and assemble proper materials and components for specific radiator core builds.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, engineering prints, and bills of materials.

  • Set up stacking fixtures and assembly equipment.

  • Set up, adjust, and operate fin machines while maintaining print and engineering specification requirements.

  • Measure, inspect, and document component attributes to verify compliance with engineering standards.

  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to produce components within print specifications.

  • Stack, compress, band, and fixture radiator cores.

  • Attach headers to cores using approved tools and methods.

  • Utilize various hand tools to ensure proper alignment of fins, tubes, headers, and related components.

Brazing Operations

  • Complete brazing checklists and required production documentation.

  • Prepare and apply flux according to established procedures.

  • Set up and monitor brazing operations to ensure product quality and process efficiency.

  • Inspect cores for defects, imperfections, and overall quality.

  • Prepare and attach required product identification tags.

Documentation & Quality

  • Complete material and labor transactions in ShopTrak, including serial number issuance.

  • Accurately record dimensional inspections and production information.

  • Document failure modes and recommend corrective actions or countermeasures to prevent recurrence.

  • Notify supervisors or managers of out-of-specification conditions, equipment concerns, or quality issues requiring additional support.

  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with ISO, quality, and company standards.

Teamwork & Safety

  • Contribute positively to team goals and departmental objectives.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area on a daily basis.

  • Clean and perform basic maintenance on core-building equipment and related tools.

  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Demonstrate safe work practices at all times.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.


Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret job requirements, blueprints, engineering drawings, shop prints, and bills of material.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Knowledge of radiator core materials, structural metals, and related manufacturing materials (or ability to learn through on-the-job training).

  • Ability to operate and maintain manufacturing equipment and assembly tools.

  • Ability to accurately measure and inspect components using standard measuring devices.

  • Understanding of occupational hazards and safe work practices in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with team members, supervisors, and support personnel.

  • Basic computer skills for production reporting and ShopTrak system transactions.


Experience

  • 6 to 9 years of manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, or related production experience preferred.

  • Experience with blueprint reading, brazing, metal fabrication, or industrial assembly is highly desirable.

  • Company-provided on-the-job training available for qualified candidates.


Education

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.

  • Technical, vocational, or manufacturing-related training is desirable but not required.


Certifications

  • Forklift Operator Certification preferred but not required.


Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.

  • Infrequently lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.

  • Push and pull up to 100 pounds.

  • Frequently stand, walk, crouch, stoop, squat, and twist throughout the workday.

  • Occasionally climb, kneel, or sit.

  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements.

  • Must possess close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Manufacturing and metal fabrication facility.

  • Fumes and airborne particles

  • Extreme heat generated by manufacturing processes

Pay Details: $23.00 to $25.00 per week
