Job Summary
We are hiring a Mechanical Assembler to join a manufacturing team specializing in industrial machinery assembly. This role involves building large machines and sub-assemblies with a strong focus on precision, fit, and alignment. Candidates should have hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, blueprint reading, and working with GD&T standards in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble large industrial machinery and sub-assemblies to precise specifications
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, assembly drawings, and GD&T tolerances
- Perform part fitting, alignment, and adjustments to ensure proper function and quality
- Modify or refine components using basic machining tools as needed
- Operate milling machines and lathes to support assembly and component adjustments
- Safely move, rig, and position heavy machine components
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized manufacturing work area
- Follow quality standards and document basic production information
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of mechanical assembly experience on large industrial machinery or heavy equipment
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and GD&T symbols
- Experience working with tight tolerances and precision assembly work
- Hands-on familiarity with milling machines and/or lathes (basic machining capability)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication
Preferred Experience
- Background in machine shops, fabrication shops, OEM manufacturing, or industrial equipment assembly
- Experience assembling large mechanical systems from start to finish
- Exposure to rigging, heavy component handling, or industrial installation environments
Work Environment & Location Details
This is an on-site, 5-day-per-week manufacturing role based in Leominster, MA. The work involves large-scale mechanical assembly in an industrial shop environment.
Primary commuter areas: Fitchburg, Gardner, Lancaster, Lunenburg, Sterling, Shirley, Clinton, Westminster, and Worcester (30–45 min range). Local candidates are strongly preferred due to onsite requirements and limited relocation support.
