Hunton Trane, a division of the Hunton Group in Houston, TX, is seeking to hire an Industrial Mechanical Engineer. This role is responsible for engineering process heating, cooling, piping, and utility systems within industrial and EPC projects. The Industrial Mechanical Engineer provides ongoing technical consultation to support sales and business development efforts while partnering with project management and field teams to successfully execute projects for customers. This individual will also be responsible for developing comprehensive, value-driven mechanical process and HVAC system solutions for industrial facilities. An ideal candidate will have a strong process or HVAC background with an emphasis on hydronic and refrigeration systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Engineer process heating, cooling, piping, and utility systems for industrial and EPC projects.
  • Design and develop complete engineering documentation for industrial cooling and heating projects through a combination of self-performed engineering and management of third-party engineering services.
  • Oversee and manage the complete engineering package, including but not limited to:
    • General Arrangement (GA) drawings
    • P&ID drawings
    • Isometric drawings
    • 2D & 3D design deliverables
    • Plant layouts
    • Equipment datasheets
    • Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) calculations
    • Nozzle load analysis, including forces and moments
    • Pipe supports and anchorage details
    • Material Take-Offs (MTOs)
    • FAT procedures
  • Experience with chilled water plant design consisting of chillers, cooling towers, pumps, piping, valving, expansion and buffer tanks, and associated piping instrumentation.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for vendors, project management, and field personnel.
  • Support project managers and field teams with technical expertise throughout project execution.
  • Attend and contribute to model and design review meetings.
  • Develop innovative engineering solutions that bring additional value to customers.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, software, and industry trends.
  • Identify and utilize software modeling and engineering tools.
  • Utilize collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 5–10 years of related engineering or construction experience preferred.
  • A Professional Engineering (PE) license is not required.
  • Strong understanding of refrigeration fundamentals, psychrometrics, hydronics, and system design.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Plant 3D, PipeFlo, Bluebeam, Revit, or similar design software.
  • Experience with 3D modeling, specifically related to chiller plant layout and design.
  • Experience with ASME and API standards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work collaboratively, and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clean driving record and reliable personal vehicle required.
