Description

Renfrow Industrial is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Mechanical Foreman to lead field operations on industrial and heavy commercial construction projects. This working leadership role is responsible for overseeing all mechanical field operations including process piping systems, utility piping (air, water, steam, chilled water), equipment setting, rigging coordination, structural interface, and heavy industrial machinery installation while actively supporting field execution. The ideal candidate has advanced mechanical expertise, strong leadership ability, proven experience managing crews, and a commitment to safety, schedule adherence, and quality workmanship.

Normal Working Hours

  • Monday through Thursday
  • Typical 4x10 work schedule
  • Overtime as required

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee all mechanical field activities while actively participating in critical installations and problem resolution
  • Install, align, level, grout, and commission mechanical equipment including pumps, conveyors, compressors, gearboxes, production line components, and process equipment
  • Plan and coordinate daily work activities, manpower allocation, equipment needs, and material staging
  • Transport heavy metal components using overhead cranes, forklifts, and hoists, or work with team members to properly position equipment
  • Access elevated and challenging work areas while following OSHA regulations and site-specific safety standards
  • Maintain jobsite cleanliness and organization throughout the workday
  • Follow all Renfrow Industrial safety policies, OSHA requirements, and client-specific rules
  • Enforce all Renfrow Industrial safety policies, conduct jobsite safety meetings, and immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviors
  • Assist with jobsite cleanup at task and project completion
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb, balance, lift up to 50 pounds, and work at heights
  • Coordinate eye-hand movements and safely operate machinery and tools
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks that may change frequently throughout the workday
  • Work on active job sites in various conditions, requiring focus, alertness, and mobility

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years relevant industrial mechanical construction experience required
  • Strong willingness to learn the industrial mechanical trade
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment
  • Experience using manual and power tools (saws, squares, calipers, etc.)
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to learn basic computer skills to communicate via email, document daily work progress, and track procurements and status

Minimum Required Tools

Additional or specialized tools, testing equipment, and power tools required for specific tasks will be provided by Renfrow Industrial and/or the client as applicable. Expected to have basic hand tools of the journeyman level.

Position Limitations

  • A formal mechanical license is not required; demonstrated journeyman-level experience is required.
  • This position performs independent mechanical work within assigned scope.
  • This position directly supervises Mechanical Leads, Mechanics, Riggers, Welders, Iron Workers, Millwrights, Top Helpers, Helpers, and other trades and is responsible for overall crew productivity and accountability.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, shutdown work, and system modifications on industrial machinery and mechanical systems.
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, engineers, and other trades (electrical, civil, structural) to ensure scope alignment and successful project completion.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Physically demanding role requiring lifting, bending, crouching, kneeling, and handling heavy loads.
  • Frequent handling of heavy equipment and tools.
  • Must be comfortable working in active industrial plants, manufacturing facilities, shutdown environments, and outdoor heavy commercial jobsites with varying conditions.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, clients, inspectors, and other trades to ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Monitor project schedules and adjust manpower to meet deadlines.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and change orders to ensure scope accuracy.
  • Track production quantities and report progress to management.
  • Oversee equipment deliveries, rigging plans, and major equipment setting operations.

Multi-Trade Oversight & GC Field Leadership

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating ironworkers, riggers, millwrights, fabricators, welders, and mechanical crews.
  • Strong working knowledge of structural steel installation and equipment support systems.
  • Understanding of industrial rigging practices including lift planning, crane coordination, and major equipment setting.
  • Familiarity with millwright alignment standards and rotating equipment tolerances.
  • Ability to interpret fabrication drawings and manage field modifications in coordination with shop and field personnel.
  • Lead multi-trade shutdown execution, trade stacking strategies, and overall jobsite sequencing.
  • Review and approve rigging plans and major lift sequencing prior to execution.
