A day in this role
Morning starts with a quick stand-up and a scan of the CMMS to review preventive tasks. On the floor, you’ll inspect a high-usage conveyor, lubricate critical points, and adjust a belt alignment. An alert pops up on a robot cell—using ladder logic and electrical schematics, you isolate a sensor fault, swap the component, and validate I/O. After lunch, production schedules a planned outage; you coordinate with supervisors, verify lockout/tagout, and upgrade a VFD parameter set on a 480V motor control. Before you clock out, you document every action in the CMMS so the next shift has a clean handoff.
What you’ll take on
- Find and fix issues across conveyors, CNCs, robotics, and material handling systems—both electrical and mechanical.
- Use prints, PLC logic, and diagnostic tools to trace root causes and implement lasting solutions.
- Own preventive maintenance: inspect, lubricate, calibrate, and replace wear items on schedule.
- Work confidently on 120V–480V systems, including motor controls, VFDs, sensors, relays, contactors, and control panels.
- Service hydraulics and pneumatics along with gearboxes, bearings, chains, belts, and other power transmission components.
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs; support building automation as needed.
- Respond fast to breakdowns to reduce downtime and safely restore operation.
- Capture accurate maintenance records and history in our CMMS.
- Champion safety—follow LOTO, OSHA requirements, and company standards every time.
- Partner with production to plan work during downtime and communicate equipment status clearly.
What you bring
Required
- Education or certification in Electromechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related field (Associate degree preferred).
- 3–5 years of hands-on industrial maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
- Expert troubleshooting on 480V three-phase power with strict safety practices.
- Mechanical know-how across hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmission, and heavy machinery.
- PLC proficiency—read ladder logic and troubleshoot (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
- Strong print reading—schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and P&IDs.
Preferred
- Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent.
- VFD setup and troubleshooting experience.
- Welding/fabrication capability for repairs and modifications.
- Experience with industrial robots and automated systems.
- CMMS fluency for work orders and history.
- Lean/Six Sigma mindset and continuous improvement orientation.
