Responsibilities

  • Dismantle, assemble or fabricate general equipment (i.e. mills, pulverizers, conveyors, crushers, rotating equipment with belts, chains, fan housings, blowers, motors, etc.)
  • Diagnose and make repairs to such general plant equipment as mills, pulverizers, crushers, conveyors, ect.
  • Handle heavy, bulky units, in rigging, moving and setting them.
  • Make decisions concerning the feasibility of salvaging or scrapping
  • equipment or parts removed for repair or replacement.
  • Repair, fabricate or improve metals by welding or cutting.
  • Use blueprints, verbal instructions, or original ideas to perform the work.
  • Use his skill in any part of the plant as required.
  • Make decisions concerning the feasibility of salvaging or scrapping equipment or parts removed for repair or replacement.
  • Assist other crafts.

Tools and Equipment

  • Typical craftsmen tools
  • Grinder
  • Electric or gas welding and other cutting apparatus
  • Transportation vehicles
  • Overhead crane
  • Oil cans and grease guns

Work Environment

  • May be required to work at heights and/or in confined spaces.
  • May work alone with minimal supervision or with other maintenance crafts
  • Work in various areas of the plant, which dependent on the area, environmental conditions can be hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, and noisy.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Skills assessment and;
  • Ability to work shift work and rotating schedules; including daily and weekend overtime and call-outs for repairs and break down situations to limit downtime, preventative maintenance tasks, and root cause analysis
  • 4 years of Manufacturing and/or heavy industrial experience working in the skilled trade
